Good for you! Mavis Beacon is a great resource! And I also want to thank you for this tutorial. It has been very helpful in my movie project where a glass orb turns 3 teenagers into fauns, and one into a centaur. Not kidding. Thanks Video Copilot! :)

hey when i get to 10:42 in the video you add an adjustment layer, when i do this it opens what looks more like a solid and im given a white rectangle! why does it not open as a transparent adjustment layer like yours??? im running cs5.5 btw

Hey Kieran, i'm using CS5.5 I have CC Sphere and have finished this -Which by the way is great thanks Andrew- Are you sure you typed it right in the right place? or have you got the full version? -The demo doesn't have as many features- I am a bit of a rookie when it comes to After Effects but I know my way around Adobe.

Andrew, ive just started learning after effects and i have to say, it was daunting to say the least, but thats to VC, my life just got sweeter! Booyah!

Thankfully im already a ninja with 3ds max...well...maybe not a ninja...more like an extra in a Jet Li movie, that gets his ass wooped...

If you got a cracked version of AE all plugins don't appear. You will have to buy it. (Or get a better Crack)

Hey. I've got a problem; I'm not able to make my orb rotating forever because my AE (it's CS5 version) doesn't open dialogue space where we should enter a script [CC Sphere effect]. I have no idea how to deal with that problem.

That's the exact same problem I'm having with most of the tutorials except I have the CS4 version. the textbox doesn't show up every time I press alt/click. :(

If you hold the Alt/Option key as you click the stopwatch it should open up the scripting textbox,

on the mac...
RIGHT CLICK in the TIMELINE HEADINGS (Layer Name, Parent, etc) and there should be a drop down menu that reads COLUMNS. Select the MODE heading and you will be given access to the TRK MATTE and TRANSFER MODE drop downs.

First of all: your tutorials are really cool.

But I don't get what you do at 17:05. First the shadow is dark because it's Classic Color Burn. But then you move it down and suddenly it gets brighter. I don't understand that, maybe because I'm new to AE. My AE here doesn't do that.
Would be nice if someone could help me, cause I'd really wanna finish this work and don't give up

ive only got the trial of after effects for thirty days to play around with, but i'm really enjoying your tutorials and when trying this everything worked fine but in my RAm Preview and final render some annoying green crosses come out from the orbs. i would prefer for this to not be there. Have You Any idea what would cause this and how to fix it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

p.s. I Thought it might be that the CC plugins that i had to download seperatly were only trial versions but it says that the contain all features.

gotta admit i haven't started learning AE seriously mainly because i work a field where PS, Flash and eventually some 3dsmax are the only requirements. leaping to AE seems like a huge step to me because it's a different way of thinking things.. so.. i hate you. lol .. nah.. just playing ..

i deeply admire your skills and talent to pass it on to us youngins and really hope to be able to organize my work one day.. at least half as brilliant as you.. much respect and keep making the world a more beautiful place.

ok guys i fixed the problem with my sphere but now i need to fix sth to do with the shortcuts. i got used to some of them yet i dont know how to change the name of the layers and jpg s and other tools that are listed down the screen. in this one we have adjustment layers for example. and he is changing their names in the wink of an eye :d i need to learn the shortcuts to do it on my computer. but i dont have a begin key which screwed me up the previous time. i needed to use ctrl alt begin keys for some application but it was impossible as i didnt have it on my keyboard. so i need the alternatives to be used instead if possible. isnt it funnt i work on my 4th tut and asking questns like an infant in arms :D

hi there!

i applied some of the tutorials. actually its my 4th :)) and i have a problem with this one. i used a jpg file for the sphere in the very beginning. then i applied steps one by one as the tut told. but my sphere has no polars so to speak. i mean it is not a complete sphere but it is like this:( )it is cut in the poles. dunnow what caused it. need help! i was hoping that somebody tell me sth :D thanks!!!

Hey! Thanks a lot for all these freaking amazing tutorials, I ve been studying some of ur videos and directly started working with AE by myself...

It took me a while to get into it, especially the shortcuts but i am pretty proud of my own results... I mean u can see the difference from the very first video though, but still, not that bad i assume...
