I've followed several of your tutorials and this is one of my favorites. I animated the noise inside the orb (the "energy"

When set the track mate (08:10) my reflection's edges became to sharp. I've tyried to play with feather but that did'nt solve the problem. Any advice?

Anyone else having a problem with the "cc sphere" not being a sphere but an egg shape? it only happened the time used it on the reflection. The first initial "cc sphere" on the smudge background worked fine. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! This is so cool but nothing seems to be working i read somewhere it might be the pixel aspect ratio compensation switch, but that didn't work either :/

I'm trying to do this tutorial step by step and now i'm stuck. I just precomposed the "orb" then i'm trying to move the camera. The fact is, i can use "track z camera tool" but after i'm unable to use "orbit camera" it's some kind of weird error, can anyone help me with that? i have ae cs5.5.

Thanks for the Great tutorial! One question though.. How do I render the comp to make a video file like .avi? When I try to render the comp, the camera movement isn't there.. Sorry, I'm just new to AE.

Why can't the orb in mine become 3d? It's flat, even though I already clicked the cube icon in my After effects... I have cs4 btw.

hey when i get to 10:42 in the video you add an adjustment layer, when i do this it opens what looks more like a solid and im given a white rectangle! why does it not open as a transparent adjustment layer like yours??? im running cs5.5 btw

Hey Kieran, i'm using CS5.5 I have CC Sphere and have finished this -Which by the way is great thanks Andrew- Are you sure you typed it right in the right place? or have you got the full version? -The demo doesn't have as many features- I am a bit of a rookie when it comes to After Effects but I know my way around Adobe.

Hey, i need a bit of help. I was wondering where i would find the CC effects such as CC sphere because for some odd reason, I don't have it. I researched a little and according to others, my version(cs4 AE 7.0) should have it already. Help me out?

Hey. I've got a problem; I'm not able to make my orb rotating forever because my AE (it's CS5 version) doesn't open dialogue space where we should enter a script [CC Sphere effect]. I have no idea how to deal with that problem.

This didnt work for me at all , lol , I brought the cc sphere and instead of making a sphere in the unwrapped comp , it didnt do anything close to a sphere...........

First of all: your tutorials are really cool.
But I don't get what you do at 17:05. First the shadow is dark because it's Classic Color Burn. But then you move it down and suddenly it gets brighter. I don't understand that, maybe because I'm new to AE. My AE here doesn't do that.

ive only got the trial of after effects for thirty days to play around with, but i'm really enjoying your tutorials and when trying this everything worked fine but in my RAm Preview and final render some annoying green crosses come out from the orbs. i would prefer for this to not be there. Have You Any idea what would cause this and how to fix it.

gotta admit i haven't started learning AE seriously mainly because i work a field where PS, Flash and eventually some 3dsmax are the only requirements. leaping to AE seems like a huge step to me because it's a different way of thinking things.. so.. i hate you. lol .. nah.. just playing ..
i deeply admire your skills and talent to pass it on to us youngins and really hope to be able to organize my work one day.. at least half as brilliant as you.. much respect and keep making the world a more beautiful place.

i could enroll to a 6 month class just to learn after effects, and I bet they can't even do 1/4 of this tutorial. And i was able to learn it in just 2 weeks. Thnx very much andrew and to all of your video copilot team...

ok guys i fixed the problem with my sphere but now i need to fix sth to do with the shortcuts. i got used to some of them yet i dont know how to change the name of the layers and jpg s and other tools that are listed down the screen. in this one we have adjustment layers for example. and he is changing their names in the wink of an eye :d i need to learn the shortcuts to do it on my computer. but i dont have a begin key which screwed me up the previous time. i needed to use ctrl alt begin keys for some application but it was impossible as i didnt have it on my keyboard. so i need the alternatives to be used instead if possible. isnt it funnt i work on my 4th tut and asking questns like an infant in arms

i applied some of the tutorials. actually its my 4th) and i have a problem with this one. i used a jpg file for the sphere in the very beginning. then i applied steps one by one as the tut told. but my sphere has no polars so to speak. i mean it is not a complete sphere but it is like this )it is cut in the poles. dunnow what caused it. need help! i was hoping that somebody tell me sth thanks!!!

Something was bugging me after I watched my spinning sphere for a while... It wasn't REFRACTING!!!
It's a subtle fix - but it helps sell the shot... Here we go:
1. Go to your "ORB Comp."
2. Add an adjustment layer near the bottom of the stack, above 'inside' and below 'outside' Name it 'refraction' (or whatever...)
3. Add the "CC Lens" effect.
4. Size:60
Convergence:40
5. Render, and enjoy!

A few thoughts on the tut...

OK, on the Glass Orbs project:
A: When you are building out the (seamless) Reflection layer (based on probe.jpg) a very quick and dirty way to make it seamless is:

Hi, I'm in New Zealand soon to be doing Adobe after effects course at Polytech. This has just completly blown my mind. Knowing we will have to have footage to play around with for the project will be given I tried to film bubbles and just ended up with a big soapy mess. The idea is to enclose a memory/scene inside that pops. Thank you so much for this tutorial ... I was beginning to think it wouldn't be possible .. you're awesome. Sexy voice too by the way ( :

Awesome ideas in that tutorial, would like to point something out though. If anybody is going for realism, the reflective would stay more or less static and would not rotate with the orb. The camera move would be the only time in which the reflection would change.

Nice Tutorial.. maybe i was expecting something bigger from number one hundred. But i'm pretty sure that you've got a lot of work to do anyway. Just a little question. In the bigger projects shouldn't be better to use for example your Reflect plugin instead do it manually. Because it's automaticaly updated with everything in seen. As you said "you set it and forget it" I guess i answered to my-self Anyway Happy Christmas and keep making good work as you allways do.

haha, mavis beacon! thats how i learnt many years ago! remember the racing car game with the flies?! and when your got it wrong a fly would hit and eventually you wouldn't be able to see! and if you got frustrated you used to just bash all the keys so the windscreen would instantly fill up!
