great tute.. where did the adjustment layer 2 come from? was that the "flare" the text had? It just popped up outta nowhere in comp, in between frames LOL thanks for all the juicy tips!!

Hi I'am work at this day (newcomer) with after effects and i have findish it, but a long time its my first document to make with after effects.
watch on 7:02 min. there is a break in the video, i look, whats this a "adjustment layer 2", there is it from?!?! but i have see its a effect "glow" i make a new "einstellungsebene" in german and than glow... its cool tut but for my first i am lucky...

Ok to get that glow in there that he did not cover
i just added an adjustment layer and went to effect-generate-cc light rays and adjusted it from there, be sure to uncheck color from source to be able to change the color

I have a problem with this tutorial.
I have After Effects CS4 on a Mac and I did this tutorial on CS3 and it worked fine, however now when I change the words from make to a smaller word, the zoom becomes offset because the origin of the z axis for the text is in the corner of the text rather than the middle as it is in the video and was for me before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a problem, I can not bind the null object with my camera because I don't have the parent option anymore... =/ how can I fix it?

Very nice tutorial. I just wanted to clarify that at one instance in the tutorial it did seem you jumped one part... You were talking about adding the navy blue background solid and then all of a sudden your tutorial jumped to the wiggle section. The title was glowing a little and you added an adjustment layer. Just for clarification, (on everyone's behalf) was that adjustment layer you added the glow effect? Thanks and please continue your wonderful tutorials.

I really like the spark title animation that you've created. It is really cool. although I've tried to follow your tutorial steps, I still can't figure out how to fly some part of the cc particles from left to right that you showed on your tutorial video. When I change the x-position, the whole cc particle cluster moves from left to right. Am I missing any step in the overall process? I understand that you are busy with your work, your feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Like a great tutorial (I believe) would be on like how to animate Typography, because I've been looking up some and I haven't found any good ones or maybe on like Cartoon Animation style things. but of course it's up to you.

I need help here. Every time I try to do a vignette with a black solid and a mask and then feather it around 330px I get this hard steps gradient that looks like crap. I mean Andrew's vignettes are soft and cool and in this particular project he is using a black solid to do it w/mask. Also he sets it at 20% opacity and it looks dark and smooth enough. When I set mine to 20% it looks washed out. How do you get a smooth feather in a mask????????????

BOO!! BOO!! - In AE 6.5 the ramp effect can be found under Render. I had to use the AE Help files to find it too, thanks.

Andrew - I could not get the wiggle to work in AE 6.5 - maybe it is done differently there?

Say where the heck is the ramp feature in the 6.5 AE app menu I scroll all the way to selection the generate right? But when I looked in the generate menu there wasn't no (CC) ramp to select from! >-(

ADJUSTMENT LAYER ISSUE:

Its a Glow effect with values of
Glow Threshold: 53.7%
Glow Radius: 38.0
GLow Intensity: 1
And choose a white & bluey colour

About that Adjustment Layer. As someone mentioned before its a glow effect, just apply it to the layer, and play around with its values and stuff. Hope that helps.

ok well nevermind about my last comment, i figured out how to change the text but now its off center and if i put it centered it only does that by keyframe so it moves back off to the side after... is it bad im using such long words for this? productions and presents are the ones im having a hard time with. help please?

I'm curious--the glinting effect added to each of the words in the adjustment layer--you skipped it in the tutorial. Any way you might post that step, email it, or point me toward a forum? That last little step there gives it some pop that brings the effect off extremely well.

First of all: Great Tutorial(s) !

But there is (as mentioned a few times here) a missing part in this tutorial :(
Andrew adds an Adjustment Layer, but this part is skipped.
But after he inserts his "wiggle-layer" he selects the mysterious Adjustment Layer by accident (on 07:14) and you can see he uses the glow-effect (effect/stylize/glow).
When you pause the video on 07:14 you can see Andrew's settings for this effect.

I am trying to apply a ramp effect to 3dtext layer but the ramp is not showing up? I have played with ramp settings and started from scratch twice and still no luck. I looked closely at your screen settings, had a look through my own drop down menu settings etc and can't find anything that should or would hide a ramp effect on text?

I am fairly experienced with AE and it's freaking me out...help me please.

The only thing in the comp is one 3d text layer and one camera layer.

Any help would be appreciated.

i have the same problem as kris only kris solved it and i can't get it right. >-( when i duplicate the layers, and change the text it doesn't stay centered and when i reposition, after FX sets a keyframe and when i delete that keyframe de repositioning is gone. also in your (by the way great) tutorials the 3d layer movement is centered and in my after FX (cs3) its at the bottom left
all the others tutorials work great! keep it up!
