For some reason the video will play for a few min then stop and have to buffer. I don't have anything else on my network using bandwidth, and it doesn't do this for the other videos. Is this video a larger file? Is the site under a lot of strain?

yea...what is quick matte? I am keying some red stuff and its proving difficult because were using a green screen suit. there is some odd 20 different shades of green on the suit. its going to be amazing once its done! RED is so much fun to work with, but the software is a real butt as its in beta and the only way to retain 4:4:4 is to export as a TIFF...70GB a min...I am trying to find a way to matte what the different color keys see that i am using to create a reverse garbage matte to protect the outside footage without rotoscoping. any suggestions would be appreciated!

RED is so much fun to work with, but the software is a real butt as its in beta and the only way to retain 4:4:4 is to export as a TIFF...70GB a min...I am trying to find a way to matte what the different color keys see that i am using to create a reverse garbage matte to protect the outside footage without rotoscoping. any suggestions would be appreciated!

Andrew, you're like the WAL-MART of the video and film industry. Affordable, easy, but effective. Other big stores are losing business because of WAL-MART.I'm pretty sure that other professional video editors, graphic artists who are as great as you hate you now for giving away these awesome and free tutorials. I don't know exactly why you're doing this. All I can say is, may you live longer and stay generous as you are.

I have one request can u cum up with some easy way for 3D compositing some thing like crowd multiplying characters or enhancing the environment. Like a stadium full of people but in the original file one few people are there, lot of men marching to war etc.

CC Particle ones come with CS3...I didn't have them either. I'm pretty sure I didn't get a valid copy of AF, no wonder it was cheaper.

Putting the velocity of the particules on a negative value doesn't affect the value of it... I mean putting a negative value render the same thing than a positive value : my particules still coming-out instead coming-in.
Very strange and annoying thingie, because i have thie problem on another computer too. If someone have an idea of the solution... don't hesitate :D

I'm having the same problem as a couple of other people - setting my velocity to negative does *not* reverse the particle system. I am still using AE7, though. Might that be the problem?

Andrew great once again. but one question, i feel like a dunce, but i can't get this to work... Not new to after effects at all but struggling with one issue in this tutorial.. For the sucking particles, even when i set my velocity to -1.5 or any negative number they still shoot out... I cannot figure it out for the life of me.. if you, or anyone else here can help me out that would be awesome. Andrew,the tutorial that you gave I've already tried it before. I'm putting many kind of effect such as glow, particle world, bubles,and lens flare. It's surely doesn't looked exactly like yours but it's definitely has a bit similarity with your tutorial.But netherthanless, your tutorial was really helpful and makes mine looked better.

I had some problems with the Particle PI. I didn´t see that with you.
It happened 3 times (when I added a new CC Particle World) that the grid changed. I didn´t used the camera so it had to be that it chanched from alone when adding a new PlugIn.

Did you had this problem too or did I miss something?

I'm using AE CS3 and Cycore 1.6 and I'm having problems getting the RENDERING option to affect the FLOOR settings like BOUNCE, ICE, etc.

For example, the particles won't slide or bounce off of the floor.

Can anyone else get those parameters to work and if so, how?

thanks! but there is one problem with your tutorial. it's that you change particle birth rate but don't say it on video, so people get like 30 particles and they try to find where is the problem, what they did wrong, but they can't because you didn't told to change birth rate. so it's a small problem but you should say it. anyways, nice tutorial, rely useful

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem... I noticed there was question about it further up.

*Setting the velocity to a negative value has no effect*

Here's why it doesn't work...

The reason being that the negative value does not affect the the particles in the way you would expect, instead it's actually the radius of the emitter that is the corner stone of the sucking. When you start playing with the size of the emitter the actual start position increases and so the particle begins outside and has a negative velocity... going inwards.

In short increase the size of the emitter AND set the velocity to a negative value!

hope that helps someone, had me scratching my head for a bit!
