Ok, so this video is about 5 years old, and now I have a question. Why red? Why not blow the skin out to blue or green instead? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I hope someone who knows will reply to this. I'd really like to know.

Skin tones are in the red region of the colour wheel so I believe if you tried to blow it out with green or blue less of the skin would be covered. Basically the effect wouldn't cover everywhere compared to the red.

Hey Andrew,
just wanted to say that the tutorials are great.
One piece of advice: don't start talking about other subjects during your tutorials. I mean, I am taking my valuable time to figure out how AE works and I am not interested how your golfing skills are. It is already complicated enough.

Just imagine you watching a golf tutorial and the guy suddenly starts talking about knitting sweaters ...

I have watched many tutorials and have read many comments and this is the first time I have been compelled to post a comment. First off Mr. Kramer, if I were a woman, my only dream in life would be to mother your child. Secondly, Svenno...really? Your valuable time? Like Wayne said, these tutorials are free...and they beat the heck out of After Effects For Dummies. Oh, and you missed the perfect opportunity to drive your point home a little better...("drive" your point home?? ehhh?? I'm working a subtle golf pun into my first and only comment.) Ok, like Mr. Kramer, I too get side-tracked. Oh yeah. Back to your missed opportunity. "Just imagine you watching a golf tutorial and the guy suddenly starts talking about After Effects..." See. much better- with a pinch of sarcastic humor. Lucky for us all Andrew isn't wasting all of his "valuable" time making money off his talents and giving us insight and inspiration in our own projects...and for that, we thank you.

if you selected just one of the layers that effects that but if you click at a free space in the comp where nothing's highlighted and then add it to your render queque but if that's what you did idk what is wrong

Andrew you can not believe how much you helped me out with this tutorial today. I got a lady in a music video and she's like "my make up looks totally shitty!" "but you did it yourself!" "I want all my close ups cut out of the video!!!" as this is not really an option i was thinking of this quite old tutorial of yours and it just made my day! again i want to thank you so much for this and i hope your golf skills improved a little over the years and you're not that lonely anymore

I just have to ask even though I'm pretty sure, but was this footage an interlaced clip? Cus' I deinterlaced it and it looked alot better...

What if the person has bloodshot eyes? is there anything that I can do for that? I mean really - the model looked like they were hung-over and the footage is good except the eyes! Unless of course the client wants a zombie look... sigh.

I have a close up shot of a bride with acne and was stressing because it's a good shot and the bride hated it because of the pimple city. This is just what I needed to know, I can't thank you enough!!!!
Your tutorials have been a hundred times more informative and helpful than the 6 months of in class room study I just completed on After Effects.

dude ur the man of the hour! this tutorial as well as the others has helped me a lot! I doing a 10 min documentary and I have an excellently lit interview with a female subject but she has blemishes she wishes to conceal. She is gunna luv the results of this technique I used (from u of course!).

My HP 8200 has twin dual core Xeons, but GPU rendering is turned off because of the Matrox on-board processor. I don't know if After Effects works with that, though. I might need to switch it back on for AE rendering.

to stan, well, my computer weas once running on pentium 4, 3 ghz, 1 gig o ram, and the speed, as you said, is really frustrating. Took me an eternity(obviously) in rendering the frames. but now, im running on amd core duo (or something) processor, 3 gigs of ram, and it works great. The speed improved..(yey!!)
