You should have used an image of someone who actually had blemishes. This woman has beautiful skin as is.. I really do not see what you changed about it.

Taking the above tutorial further... here's how I quickly removed acne and spots from a face using Adobe After Effects CC and Premiere Pro CC (this won't remove whiteheads - but you could adapt this procedure to do that too)
1. Export the clip from Premiere Pro
2. Open After Effects and import the clip
3. Duplicate the layer and rename it skinfix
4. fast blur skinfix about 15 or 20, add grain to taste
5. select skinfix layer and then menu > animation > track in mocha
6. draw on splines over the offending areas - keep them all on one layer
7. set min % pixels used to around 90%, then track to create the mask
8. click export shape data button and copy to clipboard
9. go back to After Effects, select the first frame of skinfix, and with the layer selected, simply paste (CTRL +V)
10. in the effects window, drag the new mocha data effect (it will probably rename itself to 'layer1'
above the blur and
grain effects. It won't look perfect - probably a bit creepily smooth. DON'T WORRY - there's a lovely fix for this in Premier
Pro.
11. export the revised clip as skinRevised
12. Open Premiere Pro and drag skinRevised on top of the old one.
13. Now the clever bit. Set skinRevised opacity to 'lighten' and voila, all the red and darker spots disappear.

She doesn't even have what I would call blemishes. I'd like to see a real tutorial on how to cover up actual blemishes in a video. Thanks

Who can tell me how to heal the spots on the skin just like use "spot healing brush tool" in PS.
I see some big spots still on the skin in this movie.

Man you don't know how much you are appreciated for what you do along with so many others. I have learned most of what I know from excellent tutorials. Your gulf story was hilarious especially when you said your shirt was a little tight. lol. Yea sure that was the problem.

Ok, so this video is about 5 years old, and now I have a question. Why red? Why not blow the skin out to blue or green instead? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I hope someone who knows will reply to this. I'd really like to know.

I'd have to disagree with Svenno. I watch these tutorials many at a time, and tutorials are BORING as balls without your jokes.

Hey Andrew,
just wanted to say that the tutorials are great.
One piece of advice: don't start talking about other subjects during your tutorials. I mean, I am taking my valuable time to figure out how AE works and I am not interested how your golfing skills are. It is already complicated enough.
Just imagine you watching a golf tutorial and the guy suddenly starts talking about knitting sweaters ...

Andrew you can not believe how much you helped me out with this tutorial today. I got a lady in a music video and she's like "my make up looks totally shitty!" "but you did it yourself!" "I want all my close ups cut out of the video!!!" as this is not really an option i was thinking of this quite old tutorial of yours and it just made my day! again i want to thank you so much for this and i hope your golf skills improved a little over the years and you're not that lonely anymore

Hey!
I just have to ask even though I'm pretty sure, but was this footage an interlaced clip? Cus' I deinterlaced it and it looked alot better...
By the way, Thanks for all your awesome tutorials... I'm starting to connect things from each tutorial now

Dude,
This has got to be the most entertaining tutorial i've ever seen.
Come join the node-based club,
There's not much humor in nuke tutorials could greatly use it.
ps: I'd love to see some complex 3D camera techniques from you.
Ciao

What if the person has bloodshot eyes? is there anything that I can do for that? I mean really - the model looked like they were hung-over and the footage is good except the eyes! Unless of course the client wants a zombie look... sigh.

Hi Andrew
I have a close up shot of a bride with acne and was stressing because it's a good shot and the bride hated it because of the pimple city. This is just what I needed to know, I can't thank you enough!!!!
Your tutorials have been a hundred times more informative and helpful than the 6 months of in class room study I just completed on After Effects.
THANK YOU just doesn't cut it. The knowledge you share so freely is invaluable.
You’re a legend in my book!
Best wishes

Andrew, what if the area you need to correct is with in the "black" area of the white and black matte? Then what? Since it only adjusts the parts in white? Sorry if this is a dumb question.. new to AE.. thnx

As always, Andrew Kramer is awesome for doing this for free. And their products are incredible for everyone. Even if you're professionally editing. The only problem I have, is this video doesn't play past like 4 minutes. Ever... What gives?

My HP 8200 has twin dual core Xeons, but GPU rendering is turned off because of the Matrox on-board processor. I don't know if After Effects works with that, though. I might need to switch it back on for AE rendering.

to stan, well, my computer weas once running on pentium 4, 3 ghz, 1 gig o ram, and the speed, as you said, is really frustrating. Took me an eternity(obviously) in rendering the frames. but now, im running on amd core duo (or something) processor, 3 gigs of ram, and it works great. The speed improved..(yey!!)

I'm trying this tutorial for the first time on a HDV clip, 720p 24p, about 18 seconds in length. The effect is absolutely awesome, but the ram preview is taking something like 4 seconds to render a single frame. Is there something I should be doing in the memory & cache settings to speed this up? I'm running an HP 8200, 4 gigs o' ram and a Matrox RT.X2 installed.
