Wondering... (maybe a CS6 issue?) When I place my PS file in the comp and do auto trace, it does not trace, even with preview on. If I do as Andrew does and use a jpg, it does trace but also traces the border as well. More importantly... in the video, when he does create the path, it doesn't create a new layer with that path - but for me it does. Any help would be great.

I think you can fix that by saving the ps file as another extention, and then "save transparency".. That would be my guess, im sure there are plenty of other options as well

To anyone who can help,

I'm trying to scatter my logo but its not do anything.
Did anyone else run into that problem?

I have various objects, in various solids, because each needs to be a different colour. Now i have come to a problem; When i do the World Rotation, each word rotate around itself, and not as a whole word, which i understand 100%. But does anyone know a way to make it, so it thinks that it is one object?

-Please reply to my email; Luupelo@gmail.com

is there a way to keyframe "extrude"?
so that i.e. texts "grow" from flat to extrude?

thanx in advance and keep going with the great work:)

Awesome Plug in. For those needing answers, I am sure the peeps at VCP are busy, but maybe I can help, long time user, first time post.

Denkoo - You need to be creating 16 bit comps or larger and you have to have a good graphics card, not great, but good and a recent intel machine to really have this plug in work.

Ettiene Rodriguez - It produces amazing result, but just remember, the depth of field Field, starts at the default camera postion, if you are dolly'd in tight on your object, the depth of field will be super shallow and hard to manage, just be patient and make small moves on the aperture and focus distance.

MJ(_M_)Batman - Check your channels within the scene set up, each object needs its own place, also make sure separate objects is checked under each element object in the scene setup.

Glinson AJ - See the 8 bit to 16 bit issue above.

If anyone else has answers to help our fellow AE users, always post them and share. For those who want to view my channel on YouTube, here is the video I made using the tutorial, no moving objects, just depth of field, small cuts, lens flares and multi beveled objects.

Great Tutorial so far- but quick Question:

I'm at minute 12 when you create the light- but when i move the "Point of Interest" my lighting doesn't change. If i move it's "Position" it changes, but I'm curious why my "Point of Interest" would be unresponsive? Anybody know why this may be happening?

ASCfleet
09/08/2012
Oh Yeah, also try EDIT>PURGE>ALL...this will dump any image caching that was done during the creation and/or rendering/playback of your masterpiece and will help increase the viewable resolution in your comp..example if you could only see QUARTER resolution, purging the image caches could allow you to then see HALF resolution.
ASCfleet
09/08/2012
make sure your comp screen resolution is set to AUTO...ie not FULL because the 3D stuff is GPU intensive and if your graphics card can't handle displaying your 3D stuff in FULL resolution, it won't show up! Cheers! :)

OH MY FREGGIN' GOD..!
My head just blew up with a fat, sploshing sound...
Spent the last hour checking out the promos for Element trying to make the figures for the plugin and packs to match my budget ... and didn't really understand what the support for jpeg actually implied...

And now you show me this! Created from a pixel based jpeg, Element and some shaders ... now THAT puts a whole new dimension to Elements !!!
Absolutely mindblowing awsome - noting short of it. Your on. Element is a definite buy. Already got the full pack of Optical Flares and my mind is running super hot over that combo.
The part of my brain that isn't scattered around the floor, that is .. :)

Sorry - have some cleaning up to do here ..

Hello Andrew!
I am a 16 year old guy, interested in motion graphics, watching your tutorials for more than a year. However, I have a really slow pc, so I had to stop it, I can't make graphics at the moment, and I can't try out this new plugin. I do not want anybody to feel sorry or to say "oh, poor me" or anything like that, I am cool with my life and stuff.:D
What I want to say is even if I can't make, I watch all your tutorials, just for the feeling, because this half hour of sitting quietly with my mouth wide open and smiling (yeah, I know, it's kind of creepy, like Joker or something:D) is worthless!:) In almost every minute there is a voice shouting in my head: "Oh my god oh my god how did you do that?! & That looks soooo amazing, unbelievable" and things like that.
I honestly do not exaggerate when I say watching this is like watching an amazing movie for the first time (like Shawshank Redemption, one of my favourite, to get the point) for me.
Thank you for making me forget all my things for a while (even though my parents aren't so happy about it!:D) and thank you for being so inspirational, creative and kind enough to share all this talent with us!
Keep up the good work, Andrew!
Cheers from Hungary;)

Hi, Mr. Andrew. I love to watch your tutorials and i always think that how you create these amazing art pieces that is amazing for AfterEffect learner. I salute you sir. Well Rob, I do feel with Amit. Sometimes you are just left to rely on the mercy of others to get your hearts desires, not so much that you are mean or anything, but sadly cause of lack of means to get what you desire. Amit I hope Andrew will hear your cry and offer you something to wipe your tears with. Best of luck.

Hi Andrew,

Quick question. I followed this using just a simple self generated mask from a solid. I noticed that when I play with the bevel settings, they only effect the front side. Is there a way to have the rear look the same so when I do the animation, it looks nice?

Thanks,
Eric

This looks very impressive. I'm interested to know whether it can somehow be used in conjuction with camera tracker to drop 3D objects into footage.
Eric
07/18/2012
Here is my example I was tinkering with. The bullet seems to jitter just a notch at beginning for some reason but otherwise seems to track well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJZYaDfepUQ
Eric
07/18/2012
Joe,
Since I left a couple messages on this same subject, the answer is an absolute yes. I think I figured it out. As the earlier gentlemen mentioned, using a null but it's even simpler I think. If you have CS6 with the new tracker, just tracker your scene, select you points and create a null and camera, then plop your 3D object in (or turn the eye on) and it tracks nicely. I seems to acknowledge the active camera generated by the tracker. One point that I am still verifying is I believe you click the Element layer to 3D before hand. Seemed to work for me. Very cool. Many thanks for your reply. I looked at the video. It looks great.
Joel
07/17/2012
You sure can! It takes a little bit of work (placing a null or plane on the surface you want your object sitting on, using different custom views to line up your object...) It's the very first thing I tried with the new plugin:). Love it.
I know this is no great cinema scene, but here's a test I put together to try out Element: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rvcgi6w7qkb2pks/coke%20test.mp4

07/17/2012
I also think that such a great plugin should come with a descent Documentation and How to-s

Take 3DMax for example. Autodesk teach you every little aspect of the program with lots of detailed, picture referenced, project-oriented documentation.

All of the above doesn't contradict the fact that this is the most advanced, and coolest Plugin I have ever used (using it in my studio already, great results!)

But please, Andrew, address this situation where we need to "struggle" to finds our hands inside this Deep Reaching Plugin.

Thirsty for much more Tutorials.
Like someone said, I would have bought it myself if it came with a descent amount of project-oriented videos / a long and comprehensive PDF guide.

Would be great to hear from you about it.

Love everything about your site, from the tutorials, to the plugins, to the jokes and of course the inspiration you give us.

Cheers,

Andy Price

I'm curious, does it treat masks the same an obj file in the respect of no animation? Like, will it just sample the first frame of that layer or what? I can think of some kind of neat abstract effects that could be achieved by using an animated mask, if possible. Just tossing it out there! I plan on getting the shindig in the next week or so. Looking forward to playing with it!
