I found that turning the tolerance up on the keying too high started removing the dirt, so instead I used 2 copies of the keying effect, with slightly different colors sampled.

hey andrew im working on my own project, and im trying to replace the sky with moving clouds, i got a problem though, once i got the clouds there, and i try using the color key effect, i got trees in the background and its kinda hard keying the sky out without touching the trees, how can i fix this?

I'm just after your basic After Effects lesson and I loved them all :) Your comments crash the brain hehe ;] That's a good thing obviously :)
Anyway, I can see that those first tutorials are stretched in time a bit and that the AE is older, a little harder to recognize what's what but it's ok :) Anyway, I wanted to thank you a lot for those tutorials and i'm certainly gonna watch them all :) Kinda but that my school suffers from it (instead of learning boring stuff I prefer learn sth about AE) but well, you can't have everything ^^

Yeah, I had the blue grain too. It's actually the key not working so great towards the end of the footage. I just copied the key effect, so there was too on the same layer, then applied the second on to the grainy crap at the end. Worked great.

Just heared on school that i'll be getting some After Effects lessons so i got started with this tutorial, the result looks nice enough though in the end i have some sort of white grain on the upper left side of my footage, know what this is?
