That's the best way. The trick is not to follow these click-for-click, but to understand the intention of the tutorial, and be able the principles to apply to your own works.

When I apply the motion blur, the lines disappear. It won't come back unless I uncheck the shutter angle- but then the effect doesn't work. I did something wrong. :( Thanks for the great tutorials!

You have to create a Adjustment Layer ( effect layer ?) and apply the motion blur to this layer, it worked for me ! Hope it will help you ;)
