Now that's how you drive into a guy!
There was a scene with Brad Pitt on "Meet Joe Black" where he was practically ping-ponged between two passing cars, that was ridiculously idiotic.

This tutorial however, is scary realistic. My back hurts as I watch poor Sam's spine smashes over the hood of the car.

I have a project of a short film, and for one of the scenes I'm wanting to create a bullet time effect similar to the one used in The Matrix. The idea is to have a car approach at high speed, and just when it's up close, have the time stop and move the camera to the other side of the road. I was hoping you could teach us how to do that with 3 video cameras filming at the same time, two on each side and one in front, just high enough for the car to drive below it. I know in The Matrix they used about half a million cameras to get that effect, but I only have access to 3... If anyone can pull off something like that, it's you Andrew.

Awesome Tutorial! The funny thing is, i did such a video for myself , but i didn't use the Green Screen, but rotoscoped the actor frame by frame. That's hard work and so your solution is very cool! Also the Camera moves during my shot to the right and so I used a puppet, that falls off the car. Ubnfortunately the shot is for a movie, so I can't show it right now. Fantastic tutorial! But, it's got me creeped out a bit. I was just doing a video job for a client about public safety, and it involved actual video footage of a person being hit by a fast moving train. Terribly tragic and surreal! I'm just really glad Sam wasn't actually hurt in the process. Let's face it he's what gives these videos polish.

my question to all of you:
has anyone experience using the 'diference' blend mode and a fixed camera to seperate a person from a background?
i guess the videonoise will cause problems...
someone tried it?

Love your work, and it sounds like this tutorial is great too, but it's broken on my computer.

Firefox 2.0.0.14, Windows XP, says "Movie Not Loaded" when I right-clicked on it after waiting around 10 mins. Just dsplays a white box where the tutorial should be.
