• Create 3D text with a seamless bg in 3ds Max
• Use a skylight to generate soft shadows
TUTORIAL NOTES:
This is just a supplemental tutorial while I work on a new one for AE+Max. Notice the numbering. Remember you do not need to change 3D applications, you can easily follow along with most any mainstream 3D software. I don't even have a place for 3D tutorials... yet.

333 RESPONSES TO "3D TEXT IN 3DS MAX" by heilong79 11/12/2009 go to mtl editor then go open and load a new lib, when selecting go to your c drive (not the setups you have in my documents) and find the autodesk folder, then find materiallibraries folder and load the 3dmax one. Thats it. by Josh 10/11/2009 This was a realy helpful tutorial, My friends recommended it. Thanks again by Morten Frol 09/17/2009 Hey Andrew! I was watching your tutorial and I love it, I got a nice finished product and I am very happy about it. But, one thing; I am also an active Photosghop user, so I would really like to render my outcome WITH shadows (using skylight as in the tytorial) and WITHOUT any kind of background. So the final render will be just the text and the shadows added, so I can put the render into any background color in Photoshop. But how can I do that? I render the file without a 'plane' but all I get is a black background and no shadows. Any help would be nice! And again, thanks so much for this great tutorial! Frol by John Sparies 09/11/2009 Great tutorial , I bought 3ds Max because Andrew is the man and I want to make good videos also , but I Was Wondering if Maya or any other program is needed for making 3d stuff . There should be a 'materiallibraries' folder inside it. If there's nothing in it, go into your 3ds max folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds max 200X) and look for 'materiallibraries' again. There should be a bunch of mat files in there.
