Andrew thank you so much for your tutorials! I went out an bought an HD cam, green screen and made a video production campaign for my self owned company for my burg/fire alarm business and with all the effects and tricks I produced an unbelievable and a unique intro plus product how to and my customers ask where I had it done..
When I tell them I did it myself they were shocked and I referred to the ones who want to try for themselves to your site and try tutorials. Luckily I have been working with Sony Vegas, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator etc..for years so picking it up in AE isn't bad and you made the transition simple! Can't thank you enough Andrew!

Thank you so much for making these tutorials. I don't think you realize how much direction and drive you've given me in my studies and my future career. I'm only now starting to get the hand of AE by using the labs at my local university, but I'm already looking forward to purchasing my very own production suite (complete with VC products and plugins).
I learn so much from your tutorials, I actually recently quit the film/video production program at my school so I could focus my creative, visual energies towards learning from you and other designers who publish tuts online (guess that doesn't say much positive about my university's program...)

This time, and the time that you made the TNT logo tutorial (ring) the art producers should be crazy. They take a month thinking and doing that, and you made them in less than a hour, and explaining.
You're awesome, and when I have a VISA credit card, that is the only way to buy from brazil I will buy Optical Flares, Twitch and the sound effects, that don't have tutorials! I just gotta say Andrew you can do some awesome stuff. I watch your tutorials over and over again until it sinks in. I'm so glad I found your site, I finally got your plugin for the lightsaber to work for me and I made a cool little 7 sec. video of my daughter with lightning coming out of her hands and her cousin swinging the lightsaber to block it. Well I gotta say thanks and keep the tutorials coming. By the way when are you coming out some more new ones.

Hey Andrew, just wanted to let you know that this tutorial saved my life. Not only did I use the 3D offset to control several hundred notes in a Guitar Hero parody, but the tip about changing hue and saturation based on certain colors came in handy too. Keep up the Ausum work.

I am from India, My cousin, who's in NY, ordered it for me coz u don't ship it to india... Now for those of you who REALLY want to know the easy, and real way to import models into AE with a transparent background. You render a Targa(.tga), a TIFF sequence (or image sequence of your choice) or even a Quicktime and in all of these make sure you render the "Alpha Channel" with it. Depending on the Quicktime codec your usuing quicktime uses dropdowns that give you "millions of colors +" option, that "+" stores the alpha channel, some alphas are stored in a 32bit render so if you see that option check that. And some simply say store alpha channel. All of which gives you a transparent background right when dropped into AE (as long as when prompted you dont click ignore alpha) without doing any unnecessary keying or blending.

As usual, I owe you a big thanks, Andrew.
I was offsetting like 20 layers or so, took me about 30 minutes, just finished, and After Effects crashed on me! Using this great technique, it took me just a couple of minutes to reach the exact same outcome! Amazing stuff!

Very nice tutorial! I always find a thousand uses for the methods you use in these...
And for those of you wondering about how to get a 3D model like that into After Effects with a transparent background, the easiest thing to do would be to render the model animation with a solid black background into an AVI or something. Then you could easily import it to AfterEffects and set the mode to 'Add' or use a color key; whichever you prefer.

I think Eileen missed the point of the tutorial. It's not to show you how to make a cell phone commercial, but to demonstrate a helpful technique for doing automated 3-D offset with multiple layers. It's up to you to take that information and use it in other non-cellphone ad projects.

Hey Andrew. Thanks for that again.
One question though. IN the phones comp you select the motion blur options for the layers AND for the comp. But I thought that they icon on top for the motion blur in the timeline was supposed to let you preview the motionblur.
That motionblur-icon-button doesn't have anything to do with the final output right?

That's all nice and everything but how do you export from Cinema4D?? Will not stop dead in my tracks because I can't go any further at this point until we have that information....
