more than likely everyone has moved on to a newer AE, but if you are still running CS6 here is how to get 3D Falloff to work, I'm on a mac OS 10.12.6. When you hit enter to rename the layer, for some reason, it would add a space to the front of the word. So you could either, hit enter again and take out that space or right click and rename.

All your tutorials have been very helpful. Video Copilot has been a wonderful resource for anyone looking to learn AE or augment their skills. I was wondering how best to use 3d falloff with element 3d. I tried it and discovered because the solid that E3d was connected to didn't move in space that the coding wouldn't work. how could you reference the motion data from the plugin but have it affect the layer.

Great tutorial, I'm pretty good at following your steps for an amateur. However I want to do this exact same thing with psilocybin mushrooms as the effect.

If you wanted to use a null object to animate the camera, could you not just name the null object "Camera 1" or does it not work that way?

great tutorial, love the plug-in. love everything about the site really.
I was wondering if you (or anyone else who might know) had a good work-around for this when using null objects to animate the camera.
you mention it only works when the camera itself is animated, but I'm working in a comp with several complex camera moves that are impossible without null objects.
maybe it's just not possible, but I figured this was worth a shot.

Great Preset! It would be great too if you can add a "Blur Falloff" with the same technique, i think that a Fast Blur effect will be more render friendly than the built in the camera, but if not it can apply a lens blur for a "bokeh".

hi, get stuff as usual. i have a question. if i want to use the preset but fade in then fade out, is it possible? how do i control it. i've tried duplicating the fade sliders, the control layer but can't get it to work. am i missing something?

I noticed in this project you use a 24 fps setting. How would this translate in using an animation like this for television? I assume a PAL seting wouldn't work well for NTSC tv, right? Is there much of a difference? If so, why do you use PAL? Does it work better for the web? Or is it a personal preference?

That's a pretty cool preset... It would be even better if it could blend in parts of a large 3D layer. I would need it for a "floor" that isn't facing the camera 100%. Parts of that layer that are farther away should fade out.

The last 3D offset tutorial allowed me to create a guitar hero parody, and this tutorial lets me perfect it. Thanks again Andrew, I'm gonna see if I can get my parents to get me Pro Scores and Designer Sound Effects for Christmas.

Am I wrong or did u use something similar on the Fringe Intro? Either way the preset is awesome.
I remember animating a scene using you technique that I learned watching the 3d offset tutorial and I was working my head out to get a proper DOF setting. With this is 2 clicks only. Great one!

Great preset! Funny Elvis joke. Good times all around.
Is there anyway to use this or some other trick with particles so that they cover up layers that are closer in 3D space? Right now they just sit on top of everything if the layer is on the top. The only workaround I know is to duplicate the particle layer and fade out the beginning or end.

Hi Andrew,
great ideea with falloff preset, and the tutorial is amazing. But i have a litlle problem. In tutorial 77 (Soul Removal), i had downloaded the project and it isn't any VideoCopilot presets for AE. I don't know why.
P.S. where i can find that presets ?

you don't have to restart after effects to load presets, there is a little arrow next to the effects on the right and there is a refresh button in it. Awsome tutorial btw

impeccable timming drew, im making an intro to a local web show. the intro has nothing but stills w/ a camera zooming past mid soon to be foreground elements. funny thing is i needed something to hide the pixelated hands of a concert crowed when the camera moves through them, then BAM! andrew hits me square in the eye w/ yet another extermely useful tut!
