Hi Andrew, thank for your outstanding tutorials, they changed my life, a little 
Is that possible to make a version of your Light Sabers plugin for AE CS6, this version works, but it reports about some errors while applying, and I can't make a nice motion blur of saber like you show in this tutorial, also it's quite difficult to change saber thickness, have to go dipper in plugin parameters, where you advice not to go

Hmm, I'm just wondering, for some reason, the end of the motion blur is still round like in version 1. I have everything else, but it's still like that. Also, how did you have the shutter speed set to 150 and have it still look pretty blurred?

Hey Andrew, is there a way to invert the glow so the color is on the inside and have it glowing white? This way you can make a Darksaber from the extended series of the books. Here is a link to a picture of it and some information:

Does this work with CS5 on MacOS? I used this plug in a few years back on Windows CS3 and it worked fine, but no luck on my system now. Any suggestions?

Well, I'm not 100% positive since I haven't tried it, but if you keyframe the saber gradually rising (if you watch you see him make it longer or shorter) it'll play and have the *fwaump* appearance your looking for.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I put a piece of bright tape at the top and bottom, i could use these to motion track the physical saber and then link the start and end positions in the preset to the tracking info right?

I have 2 problems.
1. I have AE 7.0 and the button that you show to mask the lightsaber when going behind an object "something Alpha something" anyway it's supposed to be present right above the layers palette and it's just not there.
2. What do you do when you're editing a video and the camera angle changes? I tried just adjusting the lightsaber to the new angle but then that affects all the frames that went before it.

Very Nice Andrew! Great Light Sabre effect! I made a video of my son and i fighting with swords.. I finsihed his sabre but I think I need to add the old preset for my sword.. looks like you cant use it for 1 preset for 2 layers. great stuff! Thanks! Will be posting on willslife.com

this is incredibly easy to use and good looking but it seems to me that the motion blur is occuring on the wrong side of the saber
it should trail behind it when you move it but for me and i'm not sure if its the same for you but the blurred shape is jumping ahead of the saber in the frames instead of following behind.
any ideas on what i am doing wrong or how to fix this?

Hey andrew, im having trouble with the download. i couldn't find the preset folder possibly bc i only have the trial version of cs4 but i tried opening the file and an error came up saying that it can't import file due to unsupported file type or extension. I'm kinda new to this stuff so im a little lost at the moment. If you could help that would be great. Thank you.

I have the same problem as Anish with the Lightsabre tutorial as well as the 3D movie from 2-D image tutorial. I make a chance to a key point, then run the timeline but all I get is the last position I set the sabre effect to (or position of rotation from the 3-d image tutorial). Am I missing a step of a shortcut I should be pressing each time?

When I use the lightsaber in one frame and go to the next frame and adjust it, it is moved permanently, it does not stay in the previous frame. How can i make the lightsaber not move when i adjust it between frames.

To do that you have the click the small Bouncing Ball button on that actual layer (it's the sixth small button over from the Source Name on the bottom left). ALSO, you need to click the larger Bouncing Ball button just above that... about six buttons to the right of the current time.
That will activate the motion blur. Now when you play with the shutter speed you will get the effect.
Now stop bugging Andrew so you he can make us some more tutorials!

I have CS3 After Effects. The presents tell me its un-supported. and when i do get it to work it does not have all the fancy flowing and pulsating like on your tutorial. Do i not have the best version?

I'm new to after effects and an amatuer - I have done my first little project (3 Seconds long) with my 8 year old son jumping off the couch spinning with a lightsaber - he's impressed but I keep trying to tweak the saber to be as realistc(lol) as possible and i have a couple of thigs to say about the preset
1. the two point mask is great a distance but close up I'd prefer to be able to chage it top 4 or six points
2. I'd like to see it a bit softer at the core
Other than that you've made it pretty easy for a noob to bang out an ok rotoscope in a day (or so?)

Hi Andrew!! Your tutorials are ever the best!! But with this preset I have some problems. When I apply this effect, it miss the "soften" and the "Perspective" on the saber controls (also with the saber_glow effect). I have the italian version of AE CS3 but there's no problem for this, 'cause I just only rename some expression and the effect work (like the previous version of the lightsaber preset). Also he told me "Mancante(Missing):Saber_Controls" or "Mancante:Saber_Glow".
Can you fix this problem?

I'm really surprised that so many people are having problems and there hasn't been a simply reply with whether or not it works in CS3.
I'll quickly answer. It does work... sort of. There is a "missing saber controls" message in the effects panel that seems to be affecting the motion blur because when it is on for the layer and comp you get the rounded (older) tip, not the notched/square tip.
It would be great if AK or the crew could take a look at this as it seems a lot of people are going ignored with their problems.

Hi! I very like this preset but I have problem with it, when I put the light saber V2 on my AE 7.0, it says Missing: Saber Controls. What should I do? I tried reinstalling the presets and also installing the old light saber preset but it still says Missing: Saber Controls. Please help me.

I tried the preset on CS3 and the motion blur is missing ... even after fiddling with the shutter speeds... It also oddly says missing next to saber controls in the effects tab/settings..
Please reply it does not look realistic without that motion blur...

Hello!
I am from Latvia, in Europe. I love your tutorials, but i have a problem with LightsaberV2 thingy... When i put it on the solid AE 7.0 pro says:
This favorite contains 4 references to missing effects. Please install the following effects to restore theese references. ("Alpha Levels", "Simple Choker"
I press ok and then:
After Effects warning: Class "Effect" has no property or method named "Pespective" Expression Disabled.
and the bla bla bla bla ok ok on nothing works!!!
PLEASE HELP ME!!

Hey mate thanks for the new version!....
With the old version i would keep going back a frame and foward, would this change the masks position? Becasue later on the lightsaber layer would'nt be correct.
And is this why you wou;ld now work back instead of foward???

I do get the same error message as shisi0, and the newer preset does not work. If anyone knows a solution to this, I'd be very grateful.

Hi!
Really nice tutorial.I tried the preset on CS3 and the motion blur is missing ... even after fiddling with the shutter speeds... It also oddly says missing next to saber contorols in the effects tab/settings..
Please help!!!

Nice job andrew , but i have a little problem whit this magnific preset and his first version , when i put it in my comp. AE show an error that says :

Error on line 5

Layer:"black solid 1"
Property : "start thickness"
thats what AE show , so i accept and every thing seems to be OK but when i animate the points , the blur doesnt work fine. ¿ can i fix this doing something ?

I get an error when inserting the LightSaberV2, it says missing saber controls. I tried copying the original saber on the v2 folder since I noticed in the tutorial that he has a third file saber and the preset doesn't, but it did't work. I was able to do it still, but I needed to keep saving every minuto cuz sudenly AF crashes. Also when rendering. Any help on this?

This tutorial is quite usable if we want to use a trapcode 3d stroke that goes around an object or a particle emitter around a figure or text.
