Strange coincidence - I discovered this preset right after I spent a few hours reading about widescreen! I made a 30-second sample, using it on my 4:3 footage. Tehn I burned 2 different DVDr's with Encore: one was set to square pixels and the other one was set to teh nonsquare 16:9 (you do this using INTERPRET FOOTAGE). I've played both disks on DVD players for both standard TV sets and for Widescreen sets. Just a tip - some people who have widescreen TV's did not reconfigure their DVD player settings - which can play the image wrong. From what I have read, source footage isn't altereed - the variance in squishiness is due to "instructions" the player had to display the pixels. And of course, never judge squishiness from your computer monitor (it uses square pixels) - try to view your output on a tv for the better representation of video. Hope that helped some people. Bottom line is that Andrew Kramer is a god!

Where I can downloading ?

Thank you
by ernst 07/31/2008
merci, pour ces jolis tutoriaux.
Cependant je n'arrive pas à utiliser certains presets; specialement (aspect ratio)à chaque fois il y a un alerte "classe effect n'a pas de propriété ou de methode nommée "slider"
merci de me repondre.
by KasperRye 07/22/2008
Newbie - you edit your whole movie in Premiere and when it's done, you open the Premiere project in After Effects. Then in AE you do color grading, ajust aspect ration (with Andrews preset) etc. This works with the CS3 versions.
by Newbie. 07/11/2008
Andrew, ... this preset is awesome. I edit in Premiere and was wondering if you would recommend editing a whole movie in after effects so I could get this effect for the whole video.
by margarita666 06/05/2008
Andrew, great presets!
Can you make Aspect Ratio preset work for Premiere Pro CS3? That would be very helpful.
Let us know. Thanks!

Hi

Thanks for everything here...one question for this tho:

AE7 CS3 (German) says (translated): Cannot find "Slider", blabla, Expression deactivated. All effects get imported but nothing happens. Changes to the effects take place though.

Would be awesome if you (or someone else...) could help me out.

by tayeke 10/30/2007
I also would like to know how to get widescreen footage to work properly in a non-compressed file. Please how can I get an .AVI to go wide, like the footage off my camera is automatically.
by AndrewM 10/20/2007
when I render out widescreen footage in NTSC DV Widescreen format (as AVI), It ends up looking squished in 4:3 format when I open it in my editing program. Is there anything I can do about it? This isn't really about your preset, it's just a related question. Thanks

by Eliot 09/22/2007

I love stuff like this that just ads that professional look.

by Craig T 09/21/2007
Love the preset, thanks to making the effort to explain how to use it properly.

Do people actually use the letterbox preset on 4:3 footage to give the impression of 16:9?

Cheers,
Craig T

by Haiaiel 09/17/2007
Hi Andrew! All your Presets are nice, but I have a question for you. It's really necessary to use some preset like this one to make that Aspect Ratio? or just can I create a composition with a resolution of "853x363" for when I want to watch the video in Full Screen it show in a Wide Screen like we can see in DVD movies?. I'm just an amateur in this and I excuse if this is a stupid question

I'm a Chilean young fan of your Website and your tutorials!. Bye!
