Long supporter of all your work and products here.
I work for a company that deals with game trailers and I have a high profile client job doing shakes on impacts. ( A shake pass )
I have had similar issues in the past but I can not recall for the life of me how I fixed it and I am pressed for time.
My main issue is when I apply the preset, my footage is automatically moved a few pixels to the left, even though the sliders are on 0,0,0 because of the FX counterpart of the preset.
I had a workaround of manually moving the video right equal am mount of pixels.
I wanted to ask If this was supposed to happen, and what is the best way to apply it to a video on off or in bursts.
Without messing up the original when nothing is shaking of course.
I know many people want a clear answer to this.
Adjustment layer gives the same results, Grow Bounds wont really do much.

I don't think it's a misspelling naming it "Aftershake." I'm pretty sure it's a play on words...what does it do? Shakes the camera. What does it resemble? Aftershock. "Shake" and "Aftershock" would have been boring names. This way, it's title is an unique play on words.

I don't know what kind of knowledge I would have on this wonderful program "adobe after effect" but thanks to you, in fact going through even one tutorial of yours in a day is like studying the program for a whole year.

You realise this is just an updated version of ff_quaker albeit with some adjustments and enhancements.

hey andrew, once again a great preset and tutorial...but when i add the preset to my footage all i get is a black area.... like no effect, no footage...nothing

you can avoid this error launching After Effects in english. To do this, launch "C:\Program files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS3\Languages\Adobe After Effects E" from your PC.

nobody has to worry about the language error! just edit the 4 expressions to your corresponding effect in your language for slider. it's as easy as it is, nothing else. you don't need to install any english version. just check the translation for "slider" to your language, look for this in your effects and presets/settings for expressions folder and there you have the name. now just edit each expression (there are 4 on the layer!) and change each "slider" to the right name of the effect.
that works like a charm!

For those looking to change the AE to English from Spanish, check on the AE Folder (C:/Program Files/Adobe/After Effects or so) and look for a folder that has on it like six icons, you should run the one that ends with the "EN" or "E" to run on english.
I think thats the way, but i will check whenever i arrive home.

Same As Scott. As soon as I apply the effects to my footage it displaces and mirror the image. How can we fix this..

Hi, just DL'd all the presets to try out. When I apply AfterShake to my vid footage, it immediately displaces the image off to the left about 1/3 of the frame. If I drag it back to center then the image is mirrored on the left side of the frame - pretty weird looking stuff. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Thanks Andrew! Great preset, I'm just wondering if there is a way to change the language in AE, because mine is in spanish, but it seems this preset, as well your light saber preset, only works in the English version of AE.

Hi,
i love this preset, cause it makes the wiggler a bunch more powerful and controlable, but the preset isn't compatible to other languages, cause it says something about the slider...this effect may has an other name so it can't find it...

I do have a question, though: do you have any values that would make a good "shake fly by?" For example, the in-thing to do in action movies nowadays is to have the camera shake when a missle or ship flies by it. Instead of a straight shake like you illustrated in this video, how would you quickly ramp it up and then settle it back down into place?

well, Andrew, haven gone tru some of you tutorials in the past, there's no difficulty saying you're a genius.
However, I think you should give us one or 2 magic pro color presets for a try-and-buy kind of evaluation.
i want to buy, but also want to know its ease of use and general value.

Fantastic preset Andrew, this is going to be amazing for my Meteorite movie, meteorites slamming into the ground?! Only thing ive heard that comes close to this preset is the Sapphire shake plugin and thats mega bucks! You have saved my Marridge and film with this free one! Thanks!
