Wrapping around 3D Objects

Wrapping around 3D Objects
So for my Uni project I planned to have an object in the centre having other objects to wrap around it, and this I can do perfectly fine with no issues.
(Image shows shapes wrapping around a circle fine)
But everytime I try to wrap it around a custom text layer and follow the same process the layer just becomes invisible. I managed to make it work once before but have no idea how to get it back.
Does anybody know a process in which I can make this work? Or does this require the creation of a 3D object through Cinema 4D and use that as the base object?

Re: Wrapping around 3D Objects
Do you mean replicating that shape with your objects?
Techniques for this are explainend in this video:

Re: Wrapping around 3D Objects
wrap it around a custom text layer
Could you clarify that a bit? Are you trying to use an extruded text layer as the replicator shape?
