Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6K (EF)

Postby Andrew_DeLong on 06/25/2015, 12:45 am

I know its not out yet, but I'm just wondering if anyone has the inside scoop on this little beast yet? When they boasted 120fps in full HD, this became the first time I truly considered a Black Magic camera. I'm just curious as to its low light handling (since I'm not seeing much in the way of that subject matter right now).

Anyone have any insider info?

Did you check out youtube videos or Blackmagic Forum?

Can't recall the links right now but I was interested in this camera too.
Found out that a lot of users found that this camera has severe issues going higher than native iso or under exposing.
Strange lines and artifacts appearing in dark areas and what not.

Could possibly get fixed in a firmware update but no news from Blackmagic Design so far.

I have the URSA Mini 4k and absolutely love it! It can do 120fps in a windowed 1080p. It works great in lowlight if you intend the shot to look lowlight. If you're hoping to shoot night for day, you probably need to look elsewhere. I did some single candle tests and it performed great, very clean, no noise. FPN is not an issue unless you're really trying to raise the blacks. Then you're screwed. I have the horizontal line bug if the camera is cold, but a quick power cycle solves that, so not an issue to me.
