Optical Flares: Flicker ?

Postby bendroid on 04/29/2016, 4:08 pm

Problem: All Spots flicker always at the same speed / same pattern.
There is no random flickering ?

Source Type: Luminance
Within the Flicker Option, I checked "Randomize Multiple Flares".

I created this TWO minute short video / FULL HD - which shows my little battle.

Question: What am I doing wrong ?
How can I make sure that each sport flickers different / random ?

Thank you so much for any little help,
appreciate it !

Personally, the way I would "fix" this would be:

• Turn off Optical Flares flicker settings
• Pre-Compose your Luminance pass
• Create a new solid and apply the effect Turbulent Noise (Fractal Noise can work as well)
• Adjust the Brightness, Contrast, and Scale to your liking.
• Apply a "time*" expression on your Evolution (in my instance, I did time*1000)
• Then, use your Luminance Pass as an Alpha Matte for your Noise

You will then get varying luminance across your lights and it will create a different flicker for each. The higher the contrast, the more drastic the difference in flicker. The higher the time* expression, the faster the flicker.
