Action Essentials and Camera Tracker

Postby christianhurley on 08/11/2015, 11:34 am

Hi I am interested in purchasing action essentials 2 but have a question
I want to film a scene where a man shoots a window but the camera will not be on a tripod so the window will be moving a little in the picture, I want the window to have crack marks when it gets shot but if the window is moving in the picture will I need to purchase camera tracker I order for the crack marks to stay in the same place on the window? Thanks in advance

First off, no, After Effects has a built in 3D tracker since version CC 2014. With that said, tracking something transparent is tricky - but if you have a window frame in the image, you track that - or rather track the scene and use trackers on the frame for tracking the window. :)

Alternatively, you can use Mocha that comes with AE to track it too. You might not need a 3d camera solve to make it work.

^ depending on the situation, this is probably an even better solution.
