Render for Print

Postby Gordan on 08/5/2015, 9:33 am

I am actively waiting for the college to purchase this software for me, and I have a quick question. Can the rendered content be used in print as well as video? A lot of elements I have seen would be awesome as logos, or other illustrated artwork for print.

Hey Gordan!

Were you curious about a specific product? Element 3D or one of the model packs?

I teach Graphic Arts at Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Morristown and I was just wondering if images created in Element 3D could be printed in high resolution? I am very interested in adding this to my curriculum so I teach Web Design as well as Digital Layout and Commercial Illustration and I was curious if the software would allow you to export as a psd, png or something that could be printed as well.

Yes, you certainly can. I do print graphics (illustrations for books for instance) all the time using After Effects and Element 3D. It is a matter of setting the resolution of the composition high enough so that you have the requisite number of pixels for print. You can render a still image in Photoshop format right from After Effects.

As a side note, as of recent, I'm rendering for-print images at 16-bit color depth for maximum flexibility in color correction. Makes a vast difference in quality. Analogous to working with HDR photos.

That is awesome, and I am really wanting to get the entire bundle, just waiting for the people at Video Copilot. I have watched some of the tutorials on youtube and the graphics are out of this world.

By the way, is there a support number for sales to speak to a person for Video Copilot. I need to get a request in so I can purchase the software.
Thanks for the information.
