Element crashes when I click "extrude"

Postby candymanjl on 07/10/2012, 5:50 pm

Just like the title says, Element crashes when I click "extrude" :( I'm on a PC with CS6. Gonna try a good ol' fashioned reboot real quick.

Card is up to date, just double checked. GPU is a AMD Radeon HD 6950M. What else would you need to know?

Gonna try loading some models now and see if that's working.

Thanks for the help!

Element is working on my MacBook Pro, so at least I can get my feet wet. My Alienware is my much more powerful machine though. I'd love to get that working.

Thanks!

I'm having the exact same issue. I hit "extrude" following the text extrude tutorial and instant crash. I'm using CS6.

My system specs:
win7 x64 SP1
i7 960
12 gb ram
ATI Radeon HD 5700

Thoughts?

Let me just say that I just did a driver update (my drivers were dated May 2012 and now are June 2012) and all is working fine.

Sorry to be a bother.

Great plpugin!

Please post your system specs like mnarlock did and your GPU drivers version.

I may be of some assistance here. Is the PC you're installing this on a laptop perchance? I think it might be considering your graphics card is an "M" model. Also, I can affirm that the drivers you're using are out of date. That's the same set I was using and when I upgraded, all was well. Now, what I can tell you about laptop drivers is sometimes they're not so easy to update. I had a beefy laptop I used a while back for 3d animation when I was "on the road" and I couldn't update the drivers. I might suggest you download the following utility to see if you can update the drivers:

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/w ... etect.aspx

I hope this helps...

Thanks, it doesn't work in my case. When I go to Alienware / Dell they say I have the current version which obviously it's not. Trying to use their support to get the latest drivers loaded.

My problem was solved using the AMD Driver Autodetect Software, it looks like the version of my driver and the Windows Drivers Updater were the problems. Element works like a charm so far, thank you for the help to all of you :D

Fixed!

What a pain in my case. Got some help from other forums, these two links saved the day. Currently on the next gen beta drivers and all is well :)
