Absolute noob question

Postby Oqpq79 on 06/10/2019, 3:36 am

Hey mates!

I am starting my first E3D adventure with the help of a premade AE file. The issue I have is that my extruded text disappears from the preview window the second I even attempt to edit anything about its 3D characteristics, such as glossiness or absolutely anything. Does it require any sort of pre-rendering or baking to return to my view. This does not happen if I change font style or size though. Can anyone point me in the right direction here?

Thank you!

In Scene Setup, there's no baking or prerendering, it should just work. So that sounds like a bug or compatibility issue. I've heard of such if you have multiple video cards installed, for instance. Generally best to have both latest version of Element and video card drivers. GTX 1060 should work.

Just to prove how big of a noob I am.

I „solved” the issue. The think is that I was applying the effect over and over again on the same layer. By pressing Effects - Element, instead of editing the existing effect in place. The newly applied effects were in fact empty but superseded the initial effect, thus rendering the layer invisible. As soon as I hid these new effects all went back to normal.

Thank you!
