Add material to the inside of a model within Element 3D

Postby zjdoliver on 03/8/2019, 6:31 am

Hi,

I created a model tennis ball in 3ds and imported it into Element 3D, Somehow I was able to apply 2 outer materials and 1 internal material but when I try to repeat it I can't. I attached a screenshot. Can someone help me understand how to apply a 3 material to the inside of the tennis ball?

Thank you

The screen shot doesn't reveal the problem. It would seem that you just need to twirl open that object (the triangle next to it) to reveal the materials?

Hi, thanks for responding, yes, I should have opened the other obj in the window. Here is the screen shot showing that there are only 2 materials which represent the outer shell and the white line. I would like to add a 3rd material to the inside of the object like I did originally but cannot replicate the settings.

I also included a screen shot of the obj partially displaced to show you what I'm trying to get with the "TennisBall_fracture3"

thanks

Haven't tried this in 3dsMax, but at least in Blender I have to make sure there's a diffuse color that different from all the other materials assigned to any new material. Just changing the name doesn't seem to do it, two purely white materials even with a different name can come through as the same material.

May have to do with export settings as well, but that's something to try.

Thank you very much, it was the settings for the fracture script (FractureVoronoi_v1.1) in 3ds to fracture the object.
