Strange Camera Problems with Element

Postby Red52009 on 03/8/2018, 4:01 pm

Hello, I have already downloaded and installed the 2018 patch into AE. I am not sure why but when using the Camera or the animation engine, the model 'flips' and I can't make it all the way around the model in AE. It seems like it is just mirroring the model the other way and coming back around the side I am looking at. It doesn't happen horizontally only vertically. Not sure what's going on, I have never had this problem. Any ideas?

That's Gimbal Lock. Below link from Adobe forums explains:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2462598

You can create an AE Null Object (not one of E3D's Group or World Nulls - as that will move the 3d objects themselves) and parent you camera to it. Then simply control the null's X rotation parameter to get the results you want. You can also build a more complex camera rig through multiple nulls and parenting - plenty of tutorials on that.
