Magic Flying Carpet - Expressions / Advice

Postby buckledcranium on 11/21/2017, 1:31 am

Hey Folks,

I've been asked to create a Magic-Carpet for some video sequences to be used in a theatrical musical of Aladdin- I thought Element 3D with some well considered expressions applied to the distortion, twist, taper controls to a Flat Texture on a primitive - would get me about 90% there.

I've seen some videos out there with oceans and water with rolling waves, so I know these kind of motions are possible. I had a tinker yesterday and couldn't really get that 'floaty' feeling you'd associate with a flying carpet. All I'm really looking for is a standard animation of it sitting in place, which I'll then combine with Aladdin and Jasmine - shot as seperate green-screen elements.

We don't shoot the live-action till next week, but I wanted to get ahead of the effects work and do some tests as a proof of concept.

Any advice or suggestions - would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks so much.

Dedicated 3d program would be much easier and much faster.
