AE 17.1.1 Build 34 & Element 3D

Postby briggs on 06/16/2020, 5:09 am

I installed the new release of AE today and element 3D will not open the 3D content in editing mode. It just hangs.

I also tried creating a fresh scene and tried to add some native geometry with the same results E3D just hangs.

Hello briggs,

I'am not a MAC user, but i know there is an update for E3D working with MacOS Catalina.
You should uninstall E3D completely and then reinstall.
It may also be a graphics driver problem.
With this new version of AE I could not find any problems, but PC with NVIDIA graphics card here.
If it don't work for you, you can also contact videocopilots support: support@videocopilot.net

Hi Hans,

I have the latest update, I installed it along time ago, I work in this application all the time and it was functioning everyday until I installed the new AE.

There is an issue with the new AE and E3D. Maybe this is just a Mac problem

Driver updates are handled through the OS.

Thanks

I also have this problem, and I did make sure I have the latest e3d from the site. If I roll back to the lest version of After Effects e3d works fine.

Hello briggs

did you get any further with this? Having an issue with the latest AE update 17.1.1 (knew I should've waited!!) and Element 2.2.2, Catalina 10.15.5. Element loads but then hangs without showing UI/contents. Get the spinning wheel of doom and need to Force Quit AE.

Would great to know if this is a known issue/resolution.

Thanks

Right, so that's what I did.
But is there an update or a fix? Can I never update AE at this point or..?

Yes, rolled back to 17.1 and it’s back. Only issue I’m having now is Element doesn’t react to camera moves made in the viewport without having to purge everything. Hope it’s a simple patch and we’re not caught in the middle of Apple and Adobe!

There's a new patch for E3D for Macs. Hopefully that will address the problems you're seeing.

Thanks for the heads up! Latest download says 2169 but nothing in the changelog to say what's changed. Going to wait as don't want to roll back again incase it doesn't work :D

I saw it on the front page in the banner. If you click on it, you'll see it. I also checked the downloads page for the products I own, and saw the new update is there, too.

Here's the link from the top banner on the site: https://www.videocopilot.net/products/recent/mac
