We can only hope... Quite a while ago Andrew teased about some new model packs, and perhaps an update. But, nothing about that in a very long time.

I get that Andrew and VCP are very busy with working on films, etc. I'm really glad for them. Such talent. Kudos to you guys. However, it would be nice if they expanded the development team and handed off E3D and other projects so that we could have the best of both worlds, the occasional blog/tutorial and perhaps plug-in, and move forward on updating and creating new tools.

Really hoping for STL / STEP support. And a better animation system for individual pieces. The Auxiliary animation system is just weird and clunky if you're trying to animate anything by hand.

Also importing OBJs with multiple pieces is frustrating if you need to make changes to any parts and reimport. Things tend to come in in the wrong order and screw up all your textures.

And some better way to handle realistic transparencies would be nice. I know it's not real reflections or anything, but there has to be a way that's better the fake glass shader.

All that to say, E3D is awesome and has made me tons of money! But there are some big quality of life fixes that would help a lot.

So eager to get some tease about E3D v3.0 :)

It basically top my list of anticipated tools

1. Element 3d V.3
2. Redshift 3 + Redshift RT
3. Blender 2.8 Final release.

I've been holding off purchasing RTX 2080ti for something that actually use the RTX raytracer for something useful. I really hope E3D v3 will be that tool, since it's realtime graphics which does not need to be 30fps. Getting real reflection and GI in realtime would basically make E3D being able to replace high end rendering in a lot of instances. Please Andrew, some news/tease would be amazing, just something to get by with in this summer heat :D

4K upscaling small menu fix. Here it is right here. Share with everybody.

Find the AfterFX.exe file. Mine is located here: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC 2017\Support Files

Right-click on AfterFX.exe and select properties.
Click on the compatibility tab.
Select the checkbox labeled "Override high DPI scaling behavior.
Underneath that checkbox select "System" from the dropdown and apply.

Hope this helps someone.

Although I love E3D, moving the 3D model around in AE is clunky, the axis widget in element itself is great, but you cannot see the actually footage you’re trying to comp.
I hope in the next version they fix this........

I'd like to see better connections between AFX null objects and Auxiliary animation channels. The AUX animation system seems to be on a totally different rotation and position scale, not real-world dimensions

It has been VERY quiet for quite some time. I've tried emailing support asking about the status of E3D and have only received a note saying no information available at this time. It has been probably a year since I last asked via email, maybe it's time once more to ask. Perhaps if they get enough inquiries, it'll be worthwhile to work on the project. Hopefully if people do email, they'll be courteous. Sure, we're all frustrated about the lack of development and communication, but spitting out vitriol is NOT the way to encourage positive results.

Edit: Email request sent to support@videocopilot.net regarding E3D status. I said I'd readily buy a v3 update right now.

Redshift engine and Element 3d have one thing in common. Both of them are Gpu base. While redshift is a real physical engine but element 3d is not!

Most important question about next versions of element 3d is: Will that a real physical engine inside of after effects or not?

It is anticipated in the future many physical base rendering engines using Gpu. Dont forget element 3d is a plugin inside of after effects and not an engine. All rendering options of this plugin must rendered with after effects(lights ,...) . Its a huge limitation for element 3d v2.5 or 3 , ....

In this situations we can not using many features of a real physical base engine for example displacement maps , ...

But why still I'm prefer element 3d?: Because its inside of a composite software. Its very special potential working with 3d objects inside of a composite program such as adobe after effects which causes working faster and easier than any 3d software's.

Since 2012 that element 3d released, adobe company could work with videocopilot to improve this plugin results. For example work on lights options and other things. But they(adobe) did not and ignored the potentials of this plugin. For example during 10 years adobe even not any changes and not added any features to lights options of after effects . Next version of element 3d needs to cooperation adobe company with videocopilot.
