Manipulate a single 3d grid element

Postby macnimation on 05/17/2018, 3:03 am

I have created a 5 x 5 x 5 cube grid ( A 5 sided Rubix cube basically using the Particle Replicator ).

I want to be able to move and manipulate individual Cubes so that a few of them are move away form the main cube, if that makes sense.

Can this be done with Element 3d.?

Maybe other means exist, but the first one that comes to mind is exporting the resulting object as an OBJ file and reimporting. I believe you can then access the individual cubes as objects. If I recall that right.

If not, you can duplicate a single cube in scene setup instead of using the replicator, and use either groups or aux channels to animate individual cubes thereafter.

make your grid with masks...then extrude in element. make sure the masks are not touching each other...shrink them more if needed to become seperate objects...then i would use the animation engine
