Smoke-like dissolve transition on objects?

Postby d_a_renoir on 12/7/2018, 12:51 am

I saw this anime promotional video where the logo warps into view like smoke (around 0:17 in the Youtube video below)

Can that effect be achieved in After Effects? I've looked into Trapcode plugin but the tutorials I've see normally produce "realistic" smoke effects. The effect in the video looks like the logo images were simply warped to resemble smoke.

Plenty of ways to do it. I think this one actually uses Liquify effect with animated Distortion Percentage. You can use Turbulent Displace + blur. You can use Displacement Map + blur.

I would like to know more about smoke effect. I've tried to create it but I think I've done something wrong.
