I have a vector map of the State of NJ (insert funny comment here) with all the county borders in separate groups in a shape layer.
I need to be able to drop a different graphic/video into each of the individual county layers but I just can't seem to figure this out.
Does anyone know how this can be done? I would be more than happy to send along any more information you may need to help me figure this one out.
Much appreciated!

Separate your shapes onto their own layers and use those layers as alpha mattes for your video.

Thank You Duncan!
I figured out that if I duplicated the main shape layer...then went into each individual shape layer and turned off all the counties that I wasn't useing (so that each shape had only one county (group) nested in it...that worked prefect!

If you find yourself doing this with some frequency, you might consider getting Explode Shape Layers from AEScripts. It really speeds up that process.

Another option is to open the vector art in Illustrator and use the Release to Layers (Sequence) command. Then import the .ai file as a Composition (Retain Layer Sizes), making sure to turn on Continuous Rasterization for the layers.
