Track liquify effect to a certain area / object

Postby andigesi on 09/12/2020, 7:38 am

Hello everyone,

I got footage of a woman's portrait, she is looking straight into the camera, but moving a little bit.
I tried to make her smile a bit, using the liquify effect on her lips and that looks great.

But as soon as she keeps moving, her lips move up a bit and the filter stays in place.
Hence her smile gets lost and her chin starts to distort.

So I thought – no problem, I will put the effect onto an adjustment layer, parent that layer to a null object
and track the null object to the woman's mouth.
But although the adjustment layer is moving exactly as it should, the liquify effect itself just stays in the same place
and does not follow the layer's movement.

I also tried messing around with sub compositions, but so far without any effort.

Is there any way to track the liquify effect to her movement,
so that her smile continues while she slightly moves?

Thanks a bunch in advance!

That's it.
Stabilizing the face before I apply the effect, does the job.
Thank you very much!
