Trying to achieve a speciffic look - examples

Postby Adamlewen on 07/7/2019, 1:09 am

Hi!
While I delve into way of achieving similar looks in AE. I thought asking here might help!
I'm trying to get something similar to these beautiful pieces by Gleb Kuznetsov:
https://dribbble.com/shots/4787574-Orga ... nce-design
https://dribbble.com/shots/4859130-Tran ... ity-design
while looking at them I can imagine ways of getting there, I thought asking here might help as well.
If anyone has a though or tip, I would greatly appreciate!
Thank you!

You may be able to get close on the first one with just AE and trapcode form, Mir etc. But the second you absolutely need a dedicated 3d program, it's using magnification through a translucent material, refraction, caustic etc. It's very well done but not possible with just after effects.

no advanced plugins...create a simple animation and make sure nothing touches the borders of the composition...then throw on Polar Coordinates rect to polar and see what happens...play with it and you can get those kind of animatons easily enough...dedicated 3d program my butt....are you a salesman...geez...the 2nd one you can get also using Polar Coordinates..but you will need to used an adjustment layer with a displacement effect that is also linked to a gradient...for the gradient try an animated fractal noise.

No just a realist. By all means be my guest and demonstrate for us.

The tags on the first example say that cinema 4d and after effects were used. I'm sure there's a way to do this inside of after effects, but that's both the blessing and curse of AE. It's a toolbox, and unfortunately we are entering an era where it's a lot more time efficient to have several dedicated programs for different task. Myself and many other artist are trying to manage making better work in shorter periods of time, and I would recommend learning as much software as you can so you have options when trying to achieve certain looks.
