boujou aspect ratio issue (please help)

Postby Jorge Rivero on 02/19/2011, 9:28 pm

Hi guys!!

I'm wondering if someone can help me with this issue, Obviously I'm doing something in the wrong way, I have a footage 1440x1080 and I exported to JPG sequence to do some tracking in Boujou like Andrew K tutorial "3D Crater", but I've try too many times with different options and all I got is 4.3 aspect ratio into Boujou, all my images came out in 1440 x 1080 - 4.3 aspect, any idea how to fix this issue?

Thanks so much in advance

Not sure what you mean. What boujou are you using? I use Boujou 4 and in the import settings there is nothing about aspect ratio. The importer basically solves everything for you there should be no problem.

Oh wait duh! I m re-reading you post. you rendered out in 4:3 aspect. You need to render out as 1920x1080 or 1280x720. You are just rendering out the video incorrectly. you are probably using some DVCpro preset or something. Render out as jpeg or tiff sequence square pixel.
I make pixels twerk.

yeah, and when you make it square pixel make sure to go into the comp settings (ctrl+k) and change the comp size to 16:9 like Tony said.

Thank you guys!!

I can't fix the issue yet. My footage is 1440x1080 (1.33) I imported the footage into After Effects and I want to export it out as a JPG sequence, and when I export the image sequence, each image came out 4.3 aspect. I did what you suggest but is not working, it is not a Boujou problem because the images itself are 4.3 when a render it out, is like "Pixel Aspect Ratio Correction" missing.
I hope you understand what I mean.

Thank you again, really appreciate your help

Yes we understand thats what we said to fix it in After effects or

You got this footage from a HDV camcorder right? 1440x1080 is what HDV spits out you have to un-squish it and stretch it to 1920x1080. Most Editing programs can detect this and correct for this, however in AE you need to make a 19020x1080 composition drop your 1440x1080 and under the transform option in the top menu go to "fit to comp"

Then render out the whole thing to 1920x1080 square pixel. If you are going to track in boujou I suggest you render to a jpeg sequence which works the best with trackers.
