Exploding parts animation

Postby jplunk1970 on 01/18/2016, 2:52 pm

Does anyone know how this exploding parts animation was created? AE? Plugins? Models? Thanks.

You could do similar stuff in AE using Element as long as you have your models in parts so you can do per object animations, but these are likely done in a 3D application.

thanks Farmfield. How does one create those parts? can that be done in Element? Is there a "stock house" of sorts that supply 3d modeled parts?

With parts I mean one mesh separated into separate objects, then you can use the multi object function in Element 3D to do animations on these parts. But you can't split an object into multiple parts using Element, you need to have that already done when importing the object.

Right. I understand that. But i'm curious if these separate objects can be created individually within Element or do they have to be created individually within another software. I am unfamiliar with Element's capabilities and trying to decide if i can purchase Element and use it with my AE and be done. Thanks Farmfield.

As far as I know, the only way to create a multi part object for use with the engine is if you build it in Element, export it and then reimport it as a single, multi part model - or perhaps you can group parts into a model for use with that function, that's beyond my knowledge.

It does look like Element's animation engine. Also the renders look like Element.

Some of the models, like the laptop, look like they were sliced up with the knife tool in Cinema to break them into pieces for the animation.
