Hi TH14, welcome. You could do it several ways. You could use real objects (paper planes) suspended by fine threads and shoot it for real or you could composite 3D models into existing footage. 3D modelling and rendering is a huge topic, however this tutorial shows you how you could go about it if you made your paper plane model in another program and used Element 3D to composite it/them ( it will also give you the general idea of how compositing works):

Though you could probably make something simple like paper planes in Element 3D by combining a couple of basic shapes.

I would 3d camera track the footage.

Then either build a model of a paper airplane (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDOobTsI6H0) or acquire one (http://www.eyedesyn.com/2012/08/06/free ... -airplane/).

Then use element 3d to distribute the the paper airplanes in 3d space. I don't have a particular tutorial to demonstrate that last part, but if you watch any of the element tutorials that show putting 3d models into your footage you should be able to figure out what is happening. Basically you will make multiple planes using particle count, then move them around using position, rotation, and scatter (as well as other parameters) until you get them where you want them.
