Real data in airplane HUD

Postby kjetilpa on 03/18/2016, 6:54 am

I am planning to make a HUD for an airplane. This is a video shot from inside the cockpit, and I want to place a HUD on the window in front of the pilot, showing real data collected from a GPS.

The way I have done this until today is to import values for speed as a number (text) each sec. and placed the number in a text layer. This layer is keyframed so each number is displayed each second in the video as numbers (text). And this look s OK.

But I would like to make a graphical HUD and place it on the window, showing numbers and some meters (ie speedometer).

Can someone point me in the correct direction on how to do this in AE, and using VCP if possible?

Once you get your data into AE in an animated way, you use that data to drive shape layers with expressions to get the meters, etc.
