Importing PSD files frame by frame ?

Postby TristanK on 03/23/2015, 4:50 pm

Hi,

I've been doing this manually for some time and was wondering if there was a quicker way of doing this without all the manual work. I import a photoshop file into After effects and each layer from the PSD file I place into a new comp and the PSD files layers I use as individual frames that are the length of two frames. I place each layer after each other in the direction of a staircase structure. Is there any settings or scripts I could search for that would speed this up?

Thanks!

Hi. You are right, there is a far easier way. Import your PSD as a Composition, in the popup box that appears select Editable Layer Styles. Open the Layers folder in your project panel and you will see all your layers. Select them all and drag them down to the Make New Composition button at the bottom of the project panel. In the 'New Composition from Selection' box which appears, select Create: Single Composition / Still Duration: 0:00:00:02 / and tick the Sequence Layers box. All done!
