Deleting Posts

Postby Awakurimi on 01/16/2011, 1:48 am

Yesterday I was on the forum and there was a topic called "need gear" on the production gear section. Nobody had replied, so I answered his question. However, after some time, I went back the topic and noticed that the op had deleted his post, which left my reply there, as if I had posted the topic.

So long story short, can you please disable the ability to delete the first post of a thead, once someone has replied to it? It wasn't the first time it had happened and it's kinda annoying when it does.

It's also kind of pointless to have replies to a question that no longer exists.

To answer some of these queries...

I have a theory that the deleted original post but remaining reply post is the result of the following..

Moderator logs in, sees a `reported` post, reads the individual post (as it comes up that way when we look) and if required delete/issue warning/ban.

The problem is some (and I include myself here) moderators may not realise that it leaves post under it. The answer is to check whole thread and delete whole thread if applicable. I will pass this on to the rest of the mods.

Regarding Retask concern I think that may be a simple typo. Basically if a post contains links to warez, nudity, foul and abusive language, political views etc then they will usually be bounced (see forum rules for why)

I have posted a PM to you as I think I know why that one was.

Will lock this thread now (not just delete the original post) ;)

Thank you for highlighting this. It is appreciated fellas/ladies.
