Before you Post for Help

Postby VFX-Anomaly on 08/20/2008, 12:48 pm

I think there should be a "Before you Post for Help" section in the Post Production forums, I am seeing a lot of re-posts of the same question, or questions that can can be answered by using the search function of the forums, or by using Google, so my suggestion is making a "Sticky" thread in the Post Production forums
with a how to list, or before you ask for help tips.

Something along these lines.

Before you Post for Help, or How do I make this effect, Rules and Tips.

Rules:
Do not ask for help on a product, unless it pertains to a Videocopilot product.
I.E. After Effects Installation help, this can be answered from there product support.
2. Do not post links that contain Pirated Software, this will get you banned!
3. Do not double post the same question just because nobody has replied to the first,
give them time to respond.

Tips:
1. Have you looked at Andrews Tutorials?
2. Have you used the forums Search Function?
3. Have you searched Google?
Here is a link to help you use Google better http://www.google.com/tour/services/query.html
4. When posting for help be as specific as possible, so that our members can help you better.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Just a thought,
and I'm sure more rules and tips can be added (or modified) to help keep the forums clean and professional.

I think it's "their" support, but I might be splitting "heirs" here

OK, seriously now, if that rule were to be enforced, about 70% of the forums would make no sense at all...
Think about it...
Also, I am a firm believer in self-regulation. I think until now things ran just fine, so let's not over-police and put warning stickers on every corner and wall...
Just my honest opinion.
Cheers

Well that's certainly an opinion, and I'm glad it's yours. :D
Think about it? maybe you should read it again!

Well there's not a lot of warnings, and the tips are good.
And it's not policing it's just being helpful.

Anyway it was just a thought, I doubt it will be used.
