;) Once you have finished it you should upload it turbosquid (Modelers but their models on there and people buy them)

If you put this on there you would be able to sell if for loads big things like this sell for around £300+

Check it out

Hey guys sorry for the loooooooong break from posting! I'll just say that after working all summer and moving halfway across the country for college, I have been extremely busy! However, please know that I have read every single comment up until now (even as you were posting them) but I just never replied (bad manners on my part). I'm sorry to say that I haven't gotten a whole lot done. I've mostly been adding details and fixing mesh problems. I honestly think I have pretty much finished the modeling part of the castle.

I do have a favor to ask anyone who is willing to help. As I have explained in some earlier posts, my computer is not made to handle the scene as a whole. I can easily render out a few buildings at a time, but when it comes to the entire castle at once, it is impossible. My question is if anyone can take the scene, and render it out from several different angles? It would be exciting for me to see the entire thing in one render, since I have not yet. I'll credit whoever helps me when I put the images online, although (at least right now) I cannot pay. :P

@ JBS productions: I have heard of turbosquid, and recently checked out the site. It looks pretty legitimate, and I think I will put up the castle for sale. I don't know if anyone will actually buy it, but I was thinking I would start with $100 and see if anyone is interested. I will probably also put up individual buildings for $5-$10 dollars each. :)

Don't worry, I will still put up the entire thing on this website for people to look at, but it will be just for people to look at and play with, not to use as their own. I would still like to keep the credit for the model! ;)

Here are a couple random renders I made up a few days ago. I'll get a few newer ones up here soon that show more updated details and whatnot.

Hi kingku,

I am a huge fan of your work, and really appreciate the modeling work. The castle is just spectacular.
It would be a pleasure to help you in the rendering process. I am familiar with 3ds max, and I think thats the one you are using. I have also used mental ray and a couple of renderers in the past.
I have 8GB RAM with i6 processor, and ATI Radeon graphics.
Please let me know - my email address is

I can also do the render if you want. I do not own 3Ds Max but I guess I can still render your scene with the 30 days demo.

My specs:
i7920
6gb RAM
2x320gb HDD in Raid0

first, your work is amazing. simply amazing. i do have some questions however. does anyone know anything about the hogwarts structure in Deathly Hallows? I heard they added some areas behind the clock tower, and the courtyard where voldemort and harry faced off has changed. i can't place where the walkway behind voldemort (previously just wall ending in cliff) is at all. is it the staircase going to the boathouse? or another bridge? the teaser poster shows its not the bridge connecting the other side of the castle across the ravine. but it doesn't show the buildings framing the walkway to the bridge behind voldemort either. this is the same scene shown in the clip where everyone's running in and the castle's exploding. anyone know about these changes?

Hi, Kingku!
Let me just start by saying that I am a huge fan. Did you know you have fans? Anyway, I'd be very happy and willing to help render out scenes for you. I actually sent you a PM a little while ago about if you were willing to sell your model. But, now you've inspired me to learn to model it myself. I won't quit till I learn it. See, I'm building a Harry Potter MMORPG prototype using Unreal Development Kit that I'd like to send to EA eventually to inspire them to build a real one. With your inspiration I might just be able to build the castle which is the most important part.

Anyway, back to the rendering part. I'd be overjoyed to help you out. I'm running a Quad-core system with a GTX 460. I can easily render pretty much anything I've ever done in UDK and Vue 8.5. I'm still new to 3DS Max so I've never rendered anything heavy in that yet, but what better time to try it that now? Let me know if you'd like my help. Also would you mind if I used your images that you posted as references for when I make my own Hogwarts models?

@keroblade: Thank you :P

@dnick093: Thank you for your willingness to help out! I'll Email you when/if I need the renders done. Your experience with 3ds Max would probably help quite a bit so I'll keep that in mind =)

@Mikreation: Thank you as well for being willing to help out, I'll send you a message if I need you! :D

@Jesse88: I have a feeling there will definitely be changes to the castle for the last movie(s) in the series. I have not yet looked into this yet, but for now I probably won't be updating my castle to fit with the new one.

@Seniorfrito: I hope you got my Email ;)

So, I've sort-of been on a crusade, trying to construct some at-least-partially accurate map (I don't have the necessary 3D knowledge to make a model yet, unfortunately), and I think a lot of stuff has been posted in this topic already (at least as far as maps go).

But from this project only one floor has been posted, the rest are linked from this. I find it pretty good.

Also, the Astronomy Tower is pretty much close to the front entrance (see here: http://www.hplex.info/hogwarts/castle/h ... nside.html)

If you need more references for the Clock Tower courtyard...

The map you used earlier has some mistakes in it. You have to reposition the great hall.

you have to click on the pictures to see what I mean (Fullscreen)

This one is more accurate:
Image

as you can see here, the angle between the buildings is much smaller:

and see the angle between the viaduct and the courtyard:

I found some other mistakes too, but more on the castle grounds than on the castle itself.
I hope we'll hear something new about your project soon ;-)

Here's another shot. I couldn't have done it without the detailed 3D model shots you've posted in this forum.

Wow Cgraham7! I am beyond impressed, this is incredible! I am honored that you would even think use my work as reference for your own. Thank you so much for posting these pictures here, and know that I am inspired by them. It is one thing to learn a 3D program, but physically modeling the castle is a completely different story. I'll be honest in saying if I could have created a version like yours, I would have from the beginning, rather than in 3D form. Can I ask how long it took you to create your Hogwarts Castle?

Just find someone with a prototyper (3D Printer) and load your buildings into it one by one. Easy! ;)

You still looking for someone to render that model for you?

kingku.
I started in July, spent a couple hours on it in the evenings several times each week and finished up in time to display it with the modular railroad club at a show the first weekend in December. I'm working on Hogsmeade Station now. I'm going for a damp pavement look. Hagrid will need to be carrying his pink imbrella.
Next comes plant beds and out-of-control weeds and ivy, fencing with gates, benches and lamp posts - then on to environs land contours, scenery, landscaping, railroad ballast (gravel) and crossings, switching signals and backboard.
