Tractor throwing

Postby Vilandra on 08/13/2008, 8:55 pm

This is a little project me and my cousin have been working on. We used a cheap Sony cam, so the quality isnt the greatest, but it worked. The next shot will be the tractor crashing.

The tractor was modeled, textured, lit, and rendered in Cinema 4D. Tracking was done with Boujou, and everything was put together in AE using C4D's multipass.

haha nice! If I'd change one thing its the bottom of the tractor. Its a bit to shiney for me.

Well its a good start but it needs a little more work.

If you compare the background and the tractor, it doesn't fit in(Not when the tractor is still but exactly when the tractor is starting to take off). A lot more motion blur is needed and the lighting on the tractor is a little wrong. Compare the blur on the background and the blur on the tractor.

Blur, color correcting and lighting should be fixed.

Its a good start, but it needs a little more work for that extra touch :D

The motion blur was done using C4D's native motion blur, but ill go back and try a vector motion pass and use the AE RSMB plugin. Perhaps that will help.

I didnt do any color correction, but ill do that next time I render it out.

What kind of ideas did you have about the lighting? I was going to use GI, but it was taking too long to render, so I used a light dome instead.

And ill fix the bottom of the tractor,... it is a bit too shiney, and clean.

improved from your last update on c4dcafe

you need some diffuse maps effecting the reflection on the bottom (so it looks dirty)
but i would just use specular (not reflection)

Looking very nice a improvement over the cafe for sure. I agree with data maybe no reflection on bottom or some diffused maps.

Great to see you and data here too!

data and josh, I had no idea you guys were here. Glad to see you.

Yes, im going to use a spec map to tone down the spec highlights on the bottom. I realized it after I rendered it out.
