Need FEEDBACK on Composite [Alien Spider Drone]

Postby FrankyKnuckles on 05/8/2016, 10:26 pm

Hey guys, need any feedback or critique on how I can make this spider drone fit well within the scene and blend in well.

Audio is work in progress as well.

It looks pretty good already, but I don't see it reacting to the fluctuating blue TV light that's in the footage, and the specular highlight seems a bit too hot.

Thanks star+circle that's actually what a friend said a few days. I'm going to work on the TV reflection. As far as the highlight being too hot would you say it is just for the first cut or the entire thing?

Mostly the first cut, where it definitely stands out. And still a bit too bright in the end. The light source (floor lamp) is dimmer than the specular highlite. The highlights could be more yellowish like the light source (lamp).

I like the interaction between the actor and the bug -- it is believable.

The lighting looks pretty decent, except the only thing that stood out to me were the levels of the darks. Try using a levels or curves adjustment to brighten up the darkest areas on the drone to match the darkest areas of the footage. Also do the same for the lightest levels as well. Hope this helps! :)

Ok cool I'm working on that now with the levels and curves adjustment. I guess I've never really got the hang of using the levels adjustment the way I do the curves adjustment even though they seem about the same in what they do.

Any accurate tips or tricks to match or composite the dark areas to match?

Right now I'm clicking on the RGB icon under the preview display to try and match it up by each red, blue, green channel but I'm just eyeballing it.
