24 Intro

Postby 5pki66 on 09/19/2015, 4:19 pm

Hi!

I am trying to recreate the the fantastic intro from the series 24. But I have gotten to the point where the digits (should) disintegrate (in lack of a better word). The only hint I have is from a Youtube tutorial, where it says to use "fractal noise with a luma matte", but I need a slightly deeper explanation. Hope some of you have an idea! =D

By the way, here's how it's looking so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Imnw2ZFakYQ

You'd have to show us the effect you're after to get a reply.

Hmm, I'm assuming you mean the last few seconds of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llAFZAwvK68

That's the tutorial I made!

Im not sure how to explain the dissolve effect really concisely, so I made a quick AE project that demonstrates. Hopefully this will be helpful to you.

Q: Why did the layer cross the composition?
A: To get to the keyframe on the other side!!!

I like your tutorial Dan but i'm pretty sure the new 24 intro has an element 3d design to it. I've been curious how they added the 3d output. Any thoughts?

Yeah, but it's pretty subtle and could also have been done using 2.5D trickery - say's I who are old enough to have had to do that kinda fakery for the better part of my professional life... :D

Ya it just looks like that offset the 3d layers of 24 and added some lens flare elements. Pretty nicely done.
