SLOW iMac Pro Performance

Postby moxiefilmco on 07/3/2018, 7:57 pm

I'm on the base iMac Pro 3.2ghz 8-core 32gb RAM 8gb GPU

I'm aware After Effects isn't optimized for this machine. I've read that material.

But something is up.

In Scene Setup my poly count is four digits and I'm getting crazy stuttering, about the same or perhaps worse performance than on a the Macbook sitting next to me. Anyone have any ideas?

Luckily I'm in warranty for this machine so if I can't get this licked I'll take it back and build a machine. I may still do it but something has to be wrong here.

The main reason is because there is no NVIDIA GPUs and no CUDA support. You have to try external GPU with NVIDIA. Google for Bizonbox or similar solutions.

I'm looking to upgrade my machine soon so is Nvidia preferred over Radeon for E3D stuff?
