RAID ssd or separate drives

Hello All,

Quick tech question. I have been running my OS off a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO, which gets roughly 460MB/s write and 515 MB/s read. I recently purchased another duplicate drive and am wondering the best setup for After Effects. Was initially thinking RAID 0 both drives to attempt to mimic NVME drive speeds, but it seems everyone has recommending a separate cache drive since After Effects was created.

Is a dedicated cache drive old school thinking or is it still the best option?

Computer specs:
Hackintosh Mac OS 10.10.5
3930K 6-core i7 4.2GHz
Asus P9x79 Pro
Nvidia 980 ti
48GB Ram

Thanks JPT7505. I came to the same conclusion after reading the great back and forth post here: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=127211
