Extending the Extend

Is it possible to extend the lightsaber beyond the "End Position" in Andrew's V2 lightsaber preset? Specifically, I want to use the "Extend" slider to go 200 or 300 percent. In it's raw form the preset truncates the saber shaft at the End Point, so just multiplying the Extend script doesn't work.

Regards, Carl.

Well there are three things you could do that I just tried out...

1. you can just take the END POSITION and extend that instead of using the slider. and make the necessary adjustments to thickness and stuff like that so that it doesn't look funky.

2. or you can figure out how big you want your "blade" to be and experiment with variables in the expression feild and add a " *2 " or whatever else you want to the end of the expression. * means "multiply by" and whatever number you use is what you will multiply your Extended feild by.

3. or you can just set your END POSITION to a really high point and just use the EXTEND slider to crush it down to where you want.

Whatever works for you... good luck.

Toph.

Thanks for the reply Toph.

My END POSITION (and START) come from motion tracking data so they're fixed - this is for a 48hr movie competition so I won't have time to rework it by hand. I doubt I can track the blade tip as it will be too blurry. While testing, I placed LEDs on the handle to get my track data - works really well - but now I'm stuck since I can't extend the blade beyond the end of the handle (my END POSITION track point). The only feasible solution (for anything based on the BEAM effect) is to extend through the END POSITION - something BEAM won't let me do (to my knowledge anyway).

You mentioned multiplying an expression - which of the expressions should I multiply?

Thanks the help so far, Carl.

Thanks Wello, looks like this comes pretty close.
