Gpu/cpu renderer conundrum

Postby JPT7505 on 10/3/2017, 9:16 pm

So running c4d r17 studio.

Have 6 pc's as a render farm.

Do animations, hardly ever stills. Mostly product animations or interior animations and move to AE for post effects etc.

Currently have a m6000 24gb nvidia gpu installed and have a titan12gb also hanging around.

Considering buying redshift for gpu rendering

Additional pc's mostly have older but higher end amd gpus.

So here's the question, what's best? Switch to redshift or stick with multiple pc's doing cpu rendering?

For a reference, longest render on all the pc's I've ever had to do has taken 2 days.

you should test with trial from redshift. no sense in such a big shift in workflow if you are not happy with image it renders. Ultimately, thats what matters.
