capture at 29.97fps but plays back at 15fps??

Postby ccfilms on 08/15/2016, 8:32 am

I capture my footage at 29.97fps but VLC and quicktime says that the file is at 15fps? (it's actually inconsistent. various captures shows numbers between 13-15fps.)

On Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, the fps shows the correct number, 29.97

Does anyone know what's happening here. Is my footage actually 29.97fps?

I'm using Teranex 2d by black magic design, capturing via thunderbolt from a VHS tape. I've looked at the frame rate on several computers. all vlc installed compturs show 15fps and sony vegas & premiere showed 29,97... I've also tried playing the file back on an internal hard drive with no luck

Hi,

the previous post made me think of something. I may have solved the issue if anyone is having the same problem. The hard drive that was capturing to was an external. Once I've changed the footage to capture internally, it had no problems. the bit rate is much higher as well.

I believe that the hard drive could not handle the amount of data being transferred...
