UPDATE 3: Almost there! First trailer launching then plug-in.

UPDATE 1: We are very close to having everything ready! But, I’m not 100% sure we are able to launch just yet! I don’t want to miss something small so we are going through our quality control process, and exporting videos. I will keep you posted.

In all seriousness, a version of the plug-in could have been released on Tuesday… we have an installer ready and everything. But it just wasn’t quite there. It was very good. Maybe most people wouldn’t have noticed. And I wouldn’t have to keep making excuses for it. But alas…
Here’s the thing, I probably could have released something and moved on but knowing the importance of these core features would have been a bummer to have a version of the plug-in that didn’t have them. And because they relate to the core of the plug-in, it wouldn’t be an easy V1.1 update thing.
The plug-in was supposed to be pretty simple. And in some ways it is. But the intricacies of the internal algorithm really set it apart. As my development team will tell you, ideas always start simple and then you start to think about the possibilities.
Despite the chaos and frustration (including yours!) , the only thought going through my head after missing the deadline: “It’s going to a take a little longer but wait til they see this!!”
I hope it will be worth it!

The people complaining about this are correct. It's about managing expectations. If you drum up a bunch of hype about a new release then fail to deliver, you're going to disappoint people. Period. Not only is it bad manners, it's simply bad business to not meet deadlines, especially one's you've set yourself.

For the record I think he's an exceptionally cool guy to do what he does, and no doubt he could have charged for this plugin to help fund his growing family; hIs generosity and goodwill are never in question. But I would rather have been pleasantly surprised with a 'here it is!' out of nowhere, than a somewhat anti-climactic reveal weeks after the original launch date. Still, I'm sure the long-awaited unveiling is just around the corner...
We all know deadlines are hard to maintain, especially when striving for perfections. If is likely that we will have to wait that bit more for the actual plug-in (which is not an problem) would you be able to release the teaser/trailer to let us know what were all waiting for? It also might keep the unappreciated a bay, unlikely but you never know..

Don't sweat it! Ignore the negative and impatient comments one here. By this time next month we'll be knee-deep in this new plug-in of yours, free of any charge. Who cares if it takes another couple of days, or even weeks. I for one owe my entire After Effects knowledge and my interest in making films and VFX to you and Video Copilot, and I assume the same goes for a lot of the folks here. The stuff we already have is off the hook. I'm stoked for the next gem, same as anyone, but some people here need to take a breather, and appreciate the work that's being done for them. Don't get discouraged and don't ever apologize for working hard for the benefit of other people. This guy made Star Wars, everyone. Give him a frickin' pass, for God's sake.
Without you, many of us would stay at Lens Flare (surely).

I'm just happy to have some news from this guy who learned me anything about after effect , made me laugh sooo much times , made my wife gone because of his "it's after effect time" thing, and worked on STAR WARS !!!

So good to have you back, hopefully we will see plenty more E3D tutorials in the near future. I would watch tuts from other users but it's just not the same vibe as when following along with your tutorials if you know what I mean. My fire needs re-igniting for E3D and you are the only person that can get that fire going again!
